Random things

At work last night, a guy of roughly 25 years of age walked past me with a handful of glue boards, and said to me, "Bunch o' mice layin' eggs in my basement... it fuckin' sucks, dude..."

Let that sink in.

I did not write yesterday about the no-longer-appropriately-named Black Friday on Thursday night, because I came home and passed out cold on the couch for twelve hours, and then had to get up and go back to work. I had to stand around and play guard dog for Xbox 360 bundles that nearly nobody wanted, apparently. They had tickets for the 215 of them we had, and they gave out 37. A few people came by and picked up a few more later, but by the time we were told we could walk away from them, four of the five pallets of them still remained.

After two trips from the salesfloor to the backroom with empty pallets and cardboard displays, I decided that the girl I was basically paired with and I would take it upon ourselves to tell everyone bringing back cardboard to just leave it and we would handle the breakdown and baling of it. It was so much quieter in the backroom than on the salesfloor, and I found it such a relief to be away from the madness. It got us about three hours of quiet time, and by the time I was directed to return to the floor (to work freight), it was dead quiet in the store, as the 10pm sale had also long been done, and there was nothing of much import going on until 5am, and the most interesting things in the 5am ad were a TV and a handful of mobile phones. At 5am, there were people down around electronics, but it was still very quiet.

I don't see where it was necessary to destroy Thanksgiving for this, however.

And if anyone is interested in "awkwardly charming vegan straight-edge queer alternative piano folk rock music", I've recently found a fella by the name of Stephan Nance out of Eugene, OR. We've had an ongoing conversation for a little while now, and he's a very nice guy. His music is pretty catchy. You can check him out at http://www.stephannance.com. He's working on a project for a good cause right now, too, so if you feel like throwing a few bucks toward a good cause, there's a place for that, too.

Well, I think I'm back to hot cocoa and TV for now.

work, stephan nance, stupid people, black friday, thanksgiving
