"Niece, I guess." Claire swept some hair behind her ear, and Shane found himself thinking this girl was definitely cute. Which was probably one of the worst ideas he'd ever had. She was just-- She looked way too young

It'd started as a simple run in when he was leaving a bar, and she'd recognized him from a picture Sasha had apparently had. Hours later, last call had been declared, and Shane was startled into silence. It'd been that long

Laura had gone through great pains, painful pains, to make sure Tony would not find out until the last possible second. Why would she put herself through the torture of telling him? The look on his face, with how insecure and ridiculous he'd been lately, would be too much.

'Do you want to break up?' Was he serious?
He'd driven her to this. That was the problem. Laura'd wanted to spare him so badly, even though she couldn't really explain for the life of her why she'd wanted to do so. And he'd driven her to this.
But she wasn't about to give up a sizable donation to a children's charity just so Tony's jealous side would stay within its boundaries. She'd put herself through telling him a few days before it was in the papers. Then he'd just have to deal

She could also see that Bruce was hiding something.
There was a part of himself, a whole other half -- if that was even possible, for God's sake -- that he was hiding away. Something untouchable. Something she might not even want to touch.

She knew his actions and reactions, his struggles and his desires, all the parts of himself others never got to see.
