The Not-A-Snuggy

I was able to cut out all of my pieces from the purple wool, with very little by way of funny seams (there's seams running across the top of the sleeves, which is unfortunate but livable) and even enough left over to guard a future dress someday.  100% wool my eye -- the way it's pilling, it seems very likely to be a blend.  All well.  I can't complain too much, I think I got it for $4/yard or something.

The fur is another story.  I had less than I originally thought, but 9.5 yards seemed like plenty.  Except that the fur is narrower than the wool, so I couldn't do as much across the width, and ended up creating quite a bit of waste.  I think I can still do it, even without any funny stuff, but it'll be close.  Also, my tiny living room is covered in brown fuzz.  I mean, COVERED.  I was running a vacuum in between each cutting session, but I still can't seem to get all of it.  And it's highly reminiscent of cottonwood fluff (which is also out with a passion this year) in the way it gets into every hole in your face and irritates you.

Drew's mom was in town for the week, which is fun though it'll probably cut into my sewing time.  I really hope to finish the gown in the next day or so, and just let the hem hang for as long as I can push it.  Both fabrics are very springy, so hopefully it'll work out.
