NaNoWriMo Update, Eun Mi & I Talk ABJDs

30026 / 50000 words. 60% done!

Well, I'm actually a day ahead. YAY! I need to keep going so I can be ahead enough to take a break this weekend, and get some much needed stuff done.

***

I bought an Angell Studio Leira and I've had her for about a month now, but I haven't really done anything with her. She's been in a box because I've been searching for the perfect wig, eyes and shoes. I've opened the box just to be sure that everything was right and intact, and I played with her a little get to get a feel for her posability.  I wasn't exactly impressed with it, while I loved the fact that she stands like her feet are encased in cement, the range of posing on her is pretty meh.

Then, today while I was putting in her eyes, I realized the problem-- I accidently ordered the normal body, instead of the senior body which is double jointed. I'll be purchasing a new body for her soon. ::sigh:: Other than that, I'm very happy with Eun Mi, now that she is "in character".

She was meant to be my feminine, little frilly girl...WRONG!!! She is a short-haired tomboy who will concede to wearing dresses on occassion, but she'd rather be in jeans and t-shirts.

Yesung, my Dollzone Hid, has aquired a pair of glasses, and they suit his character quite well. This weekend, though, will be spent tightening his strings because he a floppy little thing at this moment. This will be my first time ever tightening the string on anything ABJD related and I'm frankly terrified. I have the tutorial from Den of Angels printed out, and I've been studying it like I'm about to be quizzed on the contents.

I'll try to get some pics posted once I find, or buy, a USB cord.

Wish me luck!!

Speaking of BJDs...

I have, what is considered, two of the "cheaper" dolls in the hobby, and I know that there is a certain "stigma" attached to owning them (especially a Dollzone). Truthfully, I understand it's because a lot of the owners of these "cheaper" dolls have the unfortunate habit of sticking them in sock dresses, giving them "gothic" sharpie face-ups, positioning their eyes so that they can see forever O__O, sticking the most roadkill looking wigs on them, and then foisting them on the unsupecting masses. Then, the more idiotic of the bunch cry that elitism is afoot when nobody gives them the compliments they think they deserve for owning such a UNIQUE doll.

I get absolutely frustrated that I get painted with the same brush because I can actually see the potential in these molds. I bought my Yesung because I loved the serious, almost stuck up expression and his profile just makes me smile. Eun Mi I bought because of the sweet, butter wouldn't melt in my mouth look she has. I have decent wigs for them both that I take proper care of. They both have yet to be put into a sock dress. I make a majority of their clothes, and try to keep the quality good. Their face-up is company default and if I ever decide to have them redone, I'll pay the money for a good face-up artist because I don't have the talent to try my own hand at it.

I want to show that the "cheaper" dolls can be gorgeous on their own merit if you put a little effort into it, because, no matter how you look at, even the cheap dolls aren't all that cheap, and they shouldn't be made to look like dollar store rejects.
