So liek....

Yesterday, I was only moderately kidding about the "diamonds or pearls?" question that wrapped the debate being planeted. i mean, after the debacle that followed iowa and the planted questions by the clinton campaign, i mean, it wouldn't happen again, right? no one would consider planting questions, from any source!

cha. this is politics and the MSM in the US. i should know better.

Quote from Maria Luisa who asked the diamond and pearls question:

"Every single question asked during the debate by the audience had to be approved by CNN," Luisa writes. "I was asked to submit questions including "lighthearted/fun" questions. I submitted more than five questions on issues important to me. I did a policy memo on Yucca Mountain a year ago and was the finalist for the Truman Scholarship. For sure, I thought I would get to ask the Yucca question that was APPROVED by CNN days in advance.

CNN ran out of time and used me to "close" the debate with the pearls/diamonds question. Seconds later this girl comes up to me and says, "you gave our school a bad reputation.' Well, I had to explain to her that every question from the audience was pre-planned and censored. That's what the media does. See, the media chose what they wanted, not what the people or audience really wanted. That's politics; that's reality. So, if you want to read about real issues important to America--and the whole world, I suggest you pick up a copy of the Economist or the New York Times or some other independent source. If you want me to explain to you how the media works, I am more than happy to do so. But do not judge me or my integrity based on that question."

i .... have no words.

well, no other words than WTF?!?!?!

i know, it sounds like i'm being horrible against clinton. but i'm -sorry-. the debates are a joke. the MSM reaction is a complete joke. the moderators are a joke. following the debate, it's all about how hillary vs obama ... who won? NEITHER! straight up, neither of the two media favorites won. biden and richardson probably spoke the best. kucinich had the most and the loudest spontaneous clapping and cheers from the audience after nearly everything he said.

i should quit watching the debates. they accomplish nothing other than make attempt to highlight the considered 'top tier' and ignore the rest. (and make me mad.) there's no actual debate. i -get- that. but at the same time, i do not want to rely on the MSM to accurately report the outcome of the debate. i want transparency. i want to know what the candidates are saying, what their messages are, and how they respond to questions important to me.

it's important to me not to feel completely ignorant and sheltered in politics. i grew up in nebraska in a small town. i -led- an ignorant and sheltered life (come on! i missed the whole grunge revolution - it never came to my town! - i caught up with it when i moved away in '97 - i can't fucking believe i missed that!!) with an apathetic view on politics and a blind view on religion. now i'm older and wiser (i hope). and i've seen what apathy and ignorance has done to this country and i really don't like it. i question. i want to know. i search for answers and i make up my mind based on gathered evidence. i may not get it right all the time, but i'd like to think i'm at least not completely ignorant.

or, at the very least, i don't accept what MSM tells me. they've lied. they're biased. they're bought.

which is why i insist on watching debates and speeches myself.

otherwise, i would never have heard of kucinich or believed he was just a 'cook,' i would have thought clinton's shit smelled like roses, and that i needed to fear everyone who was not white and accent-free because the terrorists were coming if i didn't live in a police state with a fence all around our border to keep people locked in keep people out with all my civil liberties stripped and waterboarded.

politics, rant, debate
