Well, yesterday was the much anticipated Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival! Yesterday the 6 of us Modern Yarn ladies set out around 7 am for a day of woolly bliss. I had a great time, and I'm pretty sure everyone else did as well. Spent waaaaaaay to much money but it's only once a year so it's worth it.
I got...
Two 4 ounce things of unspun wool and a little drop spindle, in the hopes of learning how to spin. I already tried some pretty raspberry colored wool and...it looks like yarn...buuuuuuut I'm probably doing it wrong. I may have to swallow my pride and take the spinning class at MY.
Two skeins (200+ yards) of a BEAUTIFULOMGNOWORDS handspun kid mohair/fine wool mix in a very lovely green/blue/purple colorway from Tintagel Farm. I absolutely cannot wait to knit this stuff up. It's gonna make a perfect warm, soft winter scarf. One of the roving balls I got was from this farm as well.
Two skeins of Koigu (!!!) in a brownish/blueish/yellowish colorway. This going to make some veryvery fuzzalicious merino socks for the fall. I can just see myself slipping them on and showing them off around campus.
Two hanks of Zepher, a merino/silk laceweight. It was only $4.99 for 300 yards, so I figured "why not?" It wasn't until later that Ina told me that it's actually a really good yarn. Booyah.
A fuzzy sheep tape measure! A mothers day present, a fathers day present and secret pal goodies.
I caught a few minutes of the border collie demonstration, and it was really interesting. Made me proud of my little border mutt, Jake. The handler just whistles or gives a command and the dogs know just what to do...nature blows my mind.
Angora bunnies are HUGE. And so soft, you gotta feel it to believe it.
Understandably...a lot. of. sheep. Smelly sheep! The babies were adorable, I want one. I want it NOW, DADDY!
So, yes, MDS&W tickled me pink. And blue and yellow and purple and...
I'd rather not talk about anything else tonight because I'm just putting a negative twist on everything. and I don't want to get into all the crap in my head. As always, work is work and things are moving along as they always too. Got my iPod fixed replaced because my warranty still covered it. World keeps turnin'.
