So far, my reactions to new and returning shows are thus:
Nikita (new): Interesting. I like
Shane West (who doesn't after A Walk to Remember? lol) and Alex (
Lyndsy Fonseca) provides an interesting twist. Haven't been a follower of
Maggie Q much in the past, but I'm liking her acting in this Nikita reboot, so I have high hopes! Besides, who doesn't love a badass chick fighting for lost love??
Hellcats (new): Little fan-girl love! *squee* So... I love Ashley Tisdale! I know, she doesn't really scream my usual leading-lady types. Or okay, type... Enter Allison Mack and I am lost in her, haha. Buuut, there's something about Ashley I like as an actress. Especially now that she's a brunette. Absolutely no hate for blondes (back-up to see previous love of very blonde Allison) but I find Ashley less in-your-face when she embraces her natural hair color. Also, Aly Michalka is awesomely snarky... She actually reminds me a lot of a younger Chloe... (cue my Chlollie love and immediate thought of Aly as one of their teenage daughters - *witstful-sigh*). So... Snark +
Awesome Actresses + Kickass Cheerleading +
Matt Barr's Pretty = Rabid Love
Raising Hope (new): One word... Hilarious. So it's not the humor I'm used to, what with vomiting on babies and a total lack of empathy, buuut... I like it. I like the dude playing the trying-hard-but-totally-helpless dad, the crazed grandma that never wears a shirt and has few lucid moments, the deadbeat cousin who's missing a few screws, the naturally fierce mom who's somehow smart and yet not, and the unusual dad... who likes to shove people mid-pee into bushes. They have a weird family dynamic; they're nothing like the family I have or the one I'd ever want, haha, but they're funny and even in the short premiere they had a couple sweet moments. I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes.
Hawaii Five-O (New!): I saw James Masters and was immediately enthralled, so bonus points to them! lol Admittedly, it was Alex O'Loughlin that first drew my attention, and with Scott Caan added (as a daddy, no less), I was excited from the get-go. Full of explosions, add in a little revenge, beautiful scenery, some good looking and capable actors and it's promising. I have to admit though, I'm not as addicted to this as I thought I would be. I'll give it a few episodes to really reel me in, but it's not making my top ten to watch.
Parenthood (returning - Season 2): Two words...
Lauren. Graham. Okay, two more...
Gilmore Girls. Admittedly, I went into Parenthood just looking for some awesome LG wit... and came out wtih a lot more! With an excellent cast (giant love for
Mae Whitman!), interesting family dynamic, and very real, flawed characters, I love when this show comes on. I got addicted last season and I hope to be just as in love this season. So far, we're looking good! ;) I'm a little hesitant with the possible romance between Sarah (Lauren Graham) and Adam's boss (
William Baldwin), because that looks like disaster waiting to happen. And I love Crosby, so the added tension between him and Jasmine has me worried, but that only has me rooting for him more. I'm not a huge fan of Kristina (Adam's wife), she can be very off-putting, but I like that her character isn't perfect, oddly enough. lol All in all, the season premiere has me excited for more. Definitely a must-watch show!
Glee (returning - Season 2): So I'm a Finn/Rachel fan, though I did like the short-lived Puck/Rachel... And I'm sincerely happy that they got together -finally- but I don't trust that it'll last. That, and Rachel tends to go overboard as soon as she and Finn have any chance... as seen in this week's premiere. That and WTH, Tina, you left Artie?? And okay, she brought up a good point with the whole weeks of Halo, ignoring his girlfriend bit... and admittedly, wow does Mike Chang ever look good without his shirt off... So hormones got the best of a character I previously really liked, but I still hope she'll see the light! I'm looking forward to some Finn/Rachel love, hopefully a little more grown-up than before, and I liked the added problems of football coach Beast and the short-lived and upsettingly dark alliance of Shue and Sue. Loved the song in the bleachers too and I hope to see more current music sung! I'm kind of worried about the group's reception to Rachel next episode, partly because I can't help feeling that she's being ostracised even as the rest of them come together. She tries and she tries and I know she can be very self-absorbed in her fame, but she does love them... I just don't always think they appreciate her. We shall see!
The Big Bang Theory (Returning - Season 4): I recently got my dad really into this show. It's got the kind of comedy that you can't help but belly-laugh at, which I love! The characters are hilarious, often without meaning to be, and have their many weird faults but are still likeable. I'm really looking forward to what this season has to offer! I love Sheldon and adding
Mayim Bialik (
Blossom!!) to the show, for even a short period of time, is still awesome!!
The Mentalist (Returning - Season 3): So I didn't care for the woman Red John took last season and while I understand Jane's worry over her, fearing it's his fault somehow, I'm not really interested in whether she lives, dies, or whatever. I just want Jane back on the team and working his mojo as usual... and maybe finding something with Lisbin, but that's 'cause I'm a shipper at heart... and their offered hug at the end of the premiere was sweet. Their banter afterwards even better! Also, a little Rigsby/Van Pelt - woot! I was sad to see them part last season and I have high hopes their love will be renewed and hopefully not so easily broken up! And I reeeally want Cho to play a bigger part!
Smallville (Returning - Season 10): See separate post for long rant! #chlollie4thewin #chlollie4endgame ^_^
