11 Movies Saved by Historical Inaccuracy. Yeah, I know it can be frustrating for historians to see inaccuracies in an historically based movie. But, personally, I watch movies to be entertained. I read history books or watch the History Channel to learn various views of historical events (because, seriously, all historical recounts are biased and inaccurate).

Moving on, I don't know if anybody else is interested ('cept riari), but cleolinda has been posting some pretty detailed reports on the JKR vs. RDR Books saga (they guys trying to publish a Harry Potter encyclopedia even though JKR told them, in no uncertain term, to cut it out) on FW. Most recently, the defendants (RDR Books) wanted to get copies of JKR's notes as proof of that she's actually working on an encyclopedia. The judge said 'No' of course. Anyway, you can find all the posts here.

ETA: There are some speculations about RDR's motives in this thread. If, by some strange cosmic occurrence, the judge had agreed with their requests, all of JRK's notes could have been made publicly accessible (if not filed under seal) and easily obtainable on the internet. This would, of course, cut into the profit for JKR's encyclopedia (all of which were going to charity), if not ruing the plans altogether (though, I seriously doubt the latter).

Whether or not that was their true intent will probably never be revealed. Either way, it doesn't make RDR look good at all. They're either stupid or malicious.

Cheers!

movies, jkr
