A chapter or two away from finishing K2: Life and Death on the World's Most Dangerous Mountain by Ed Viesturs and David Roberts, and I'm wishing it didn't have an ending. I love it when you find books where you just want to preserve the moment where your focus is arrested by a tale; where you want to simultaneously re-read the last 50 pages to relive the details, and push on for another 12 chapters. It reads like legends are unfolding before you. There's commentary every now and then from an experienced, rational man, just as willing to kick back with a beer and relay his latest expedition or comment on how he would've reacted, as he is to piece together a riveting recollection of summit attempts 5 decades ago.
