Summary:
Ruki gives Kai a lesson in astronomy, but they get to see more then just stars.
“Wow…What a wonderful night…” Kai smiles, as he looks at the night-sky. He is standing on his balcony and looks up at the thousands of stars.
No clouds…Only stars and the moon…
Well, only…So many stars…
Countless, Countless of stars.
For a long time, Kai stares at the sky.
Till his neck hurts, but he keeps on staring.
He doesn’t notice that Ruki enters, and stares at his back.
Till he coughs.
“…What the hell are you doing? It is freezing outside!” He says.
“Eh? No, I’m not cold…” Kai doesn’t stop staring at the night-sky.
Ruki walks to the balcony. He shudders as he stands outside.
“My god, NOT cold?” He says. “Man! Go back inside, you’ll get sick! What are you doing here anyway?”
Kai smiles, while still staring at the sky. “Stars.” He says.
“Huh? Stars?”
“Yes Ruki-kun! Look!” Kai says, and he points up, at the thousands of little-lights.
Ruki looks, and grins. “If it are stars you are interested in…”
“Yes! Aren’t you? So beautiful…” Kai mumbles.
“Well…I have a telescope…So…”
“Oh!” This is the first time Kai looks at Ruki since the start of their conversation. He turns his head too fast, so his neck protests.
“Au!” Kai shouts. And he grabs his neck.
”That’s what I mean…” Ruki grins. “I’ll get it…It’s somewhere in my room…And you, get yourself dressed warm, even if you don’t think it’s cold out there, it is at the roof.”
“The roof?” Kai groans, still rubbing his neck.
“Yes! The roof! Now go get yourself a cote Kai…” Ruki says decisive.
“Oh man, wow…Look at that view…” Kai mumbles, as they stand on the roof of their flat. Ruki is busy preparing his telescope.
“Yes, yes…very beautiful…Now help me Kai! You are the one that wants to stare at stars…” Ruki mumbles, as he doesn’t manage to draw up the telescope.
Kai smiles, and goes helping.
As the telescope stands there, Ruki starts pointing at several star-signs, telling Kai what is what. While Kai stares at it, he has to admit this is one of the most beautiful things he ever saw in his life.
“And that is…Eh Orion I guess,” Ruki says.
“Ruki-kun…” Kai grins. “I have the feeling, you don’t know anything from it…”
“Eh? Why?” Ruki says embarrassed.
“Cause, according to you…there are three Orions, in the sky.”
“Oh! No true, I do know what I’m talking about!” Ruki says indignant.
“Liar!” Kai says teasing.
“Oh, you asshole! Come give me that telescope! I’ll prove to you that I do know-“
“Ha! Don’t think so Ruki-kun! Wait for your turn!”
“You’re acting like a little child Kai! Come on, let me watch for a second…” And Ruki tries to push Kai away, and Kai pushes back.
They are a bit rumbling, and then Kai pushes Ruki, by accident, against the telescope, and the lens, precisely drew up by Ruki, now moves down.
Ruki holds Kais arm against his back, and Kai tries to lift Ruki up while he is hanging against is back.
Ruki shouts when his feet are lifted up from the ground, and Kai groans cause this asks many strength.
“Hey! Bastard! Put me down!” Ruki shouts laughing.
“I’ll put you down, if you let my arm go!” Kai groans. Cause it pretty hurts.
“Okay, okay…At three okay? Cause I’ll fall anyway when I let your arm go…”
“Okay…Well I am already at five! Let go Ruki!” Kai groans.
And Ruki lets himself drop back on the ground.
Kai laughs teasing, and bows over to the telescope again.
“Unfair!” Ruki shouts.
But Kai already starts looking through the lens again.
But as his eye stares through it, he shouts, and falls on his butt.
“Waaah!” he says.
“Huh? Kai?” Ruki asks surprised and a bit worried.
“I-I…In…Across the…OH MY GOD!” Kai shouts shocked.
“Huh? What is it what did you see?” Ruki says excited. And he tries to look through the lens, but Kai is still holding it, though he is sitting on the roof.
“Kai! What did you see?”
“I..I saw…I knew that Uruha lived across the street but…” Kai says, his face is white.
“What? Did you see Uruha?” Ruki grins.
Kai nods.
“What is wrong with that? Did you see him while he was sitting at the toilet or something?”
Kai shakes his head.
“Did you see him naked?”
Kai nods.
Ruki laughs. “So? I mean, I understand you are shocked but come on…It is Uruha! We see him every day!”
“But not NAKED!” Kai says indignant. He is still white. “And, and Ruki…He…He…wasn’t…”
“He was not what?” Ruki grins, still trying to look through the telescope..
“He was not…alone.” Kai mumbles.
Ruki suddenly stands still.
“WHAT?” He says shocked.
“He…He was not alone…” Kai repeats.
“Yes I heard you! But…Who was with him? That waitress he is always flirting with?”
Kai shakes his head again.
“What? Someone we know?”
Kai nods.
“Who? What girl?”
Kai shakes his head again.
“No girl?”
Kai nods.
“So…A guy? A guy we know…?”
“Y-Yes…” Kai says.
“…How…How well do we know the guy? I mean it is not…someone from the ba-“ But Ruki doesn’t finish his sentence, as Kai nods again.
“HOLY FUCK!” Ruki shouts. “Well, who…Who was it? Aoi? It must be Aoi, I always expected him to be gay…”
But Kai shakes his head.
“…You mean…” Ruki says slowly.
“Y-yes…”
Kai and Ruki stare at each other for a few seconds.
“Give me that telescope!” Ruki grins then. And he tries to grab it away.
“But…But Ruki! They need privacy!”
“Fuck privacy! Oh man, this I want to see…he always says he is as straight as can be…And now…Just on a Monday evening!”
“Ruki! Don’t act so childish!” Kai shouts.
“Kai, give me that telescope!” Ruki responds back.
“OI! YOU! ON THE ROOF!” An angry voice shouts, it sounds like it is from a big distance.
Both, Kai and Ruki, let drop the telescope, and both recognize that voice.
At the same time, and with the same expression on their faces, they turn their head to the building across the street.
Reita had opened a window. “YES YOU TWO! MAN! KEEP QUIET! Some people want to SLEEP okay?”
Both Kai and Ruki, stare at their friend, and how he closes the window again.
“Eh…Shall we…Go watch TV?” Ruki says then.
“Y-yes…Good idea…” Kai mumbles.
And they walk back to their apartment downstairs, leaving the telescope at the roof.
Not intending to touch that thing ever again.
