What if?

What if we didn’t stop trying?  What if we never gave up?  What if we never decided that we no longer need to expend the effort on basic niceties because we’re so intimately related or because of how often we see each other?  What if we always said, “please,” and “thank you”?  What if we even did it MOST of the time?

What if we considered each other’s feelings every day?  What if we just tried a little bit harder to remember, not only the things that matter to ourselves, but the things that matter to one another?  And, while we’re inevitably bound to forget some things, what if we did more than shrug our shoulders when it’s pointed out that we’ve forgotten?  What if we stopped saying, “oh, well,” and started saying, “thanks for reminding me”?

What if, instead of saying, “I’m sorry,” we started SHOWING, “I’m trying”?

What if, “I love you,” can’t fix, “but, I never cared enough to put the effort in”?
