oh my goodness, is it an update?
For the last 8 weeks we have had a contest going on at work with Travelers (one of our companies). Everytime you sell an auto policy, you register the policy number and are then entered to win a daily or weekly prize. The daily prizes are $30 Visa Gift Cards. The weekly prizes go to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. 1st place gets their choice of an ipod Nano, 15" Flat Screen TV, Coach Handbag, and some other things I can't remember. 2nd place gets a $200 Visa Gift Card and 3rd place gets a $100 Visa Gift Card. Finally there is a Grand Prize, which is a 55" Sony Plasma TV or $3,000, that is given away at the end of the contest to the top auto seller. Florida is split into 3 teams, therefore there are 3 Grand Prizes that will be given away.
So far I have won the daily prize 3 times ($90) and 3rd place on a weekly prize ($100).
Last week I found out that I was in 5th place for the Grand Prize for my team! So I started to work harder to get auto policies sold. This week was the final week of the contest. On Wednesday I received a call from Travelers advising me that I was one of the top 5 and that there were only 5 policies between myself and 1st place! Later that day I found out that I was in 3rd place and that there were 3 policies between myself and 1st. So I kicked it into high gear. My boss and the other girls started looking for any and every auto policy that i could sell for Travelers and get me into 1st place.
As of Thursday morning I was now tied for 2nd place with 3 policies between me and 1st. I ended up selling 4 policies yesterday! This morning I sold 2 policies by lunchtime. While I was at lunch my boss, Rick, called my cell phone to let me know that as of this morning I was tied for 1st place!!!! The girl that I am up against sold 1 policy yesterday. I sold 4! So from lunchtime until 5 today I sold another 4 policies. Totalling 6!!!! So if this girl that I am competing with does the same kind of work that she did yesterday, I'm good as gold!!!
All this to say that I find out on Monday if I am the Grand Prize winner!!!! This could be a long weekend!! :)
Oh and my boss called the company, talked to one of the underwriters who thinks I've won, no question. Craziness!!!!
