For most of today, I have been at a ‘retreat’ (a teacher’s house) contemplating what my faith means to me.
At the end, one of the teachers gave a mini report on all of the candidates.
She just spoke about our qualities and how she feels we have grown over the past 8 months.
According to her, I am a ‘deep unsuspecting theologian’, ‘very patient’, ‘usually quiet in class’ but when I speak ‘it’s like- woah! She’s got something to say that’s worth hearing’ I’ve apparantly ‘fallen in love with the church and the faith’ I ’absolutely adore the Saints and the Rosary’ and she thinks that I will make ‘an excellent teacher, possibly in RCIA’
It was interesting to listen to.
I have enjoyed attending the classes, and I do love the lives of the saints and the rosary (Catholic bling bling rules) but I hardly think I’ll be back next year as a religious teacher!!
Can you imagine?!!
Me teaching people how to be Catholic?!
I asked if there was a Saints class I could attend (like a Bible study) but there isn’t.
So one of the teachers said that she thinks I could run a class instead.
She said she’d help me, and co run it with me, but she really thinks I can teach people all about the lives of the Saints!
Too funny.
The way I make it fun in my head is to imagine them as people today.
How fancy would Saint Sebastian be today?
He’d be a life model in an art college, so pouty and beautiful.
Lucy would be the blonde starlet ala Marilyn Monroe, Valentino would be unlucky in love, Agatha would be a page 3 girl.
I have it all worked out in my head, but I doubt the church would approve of my teaching method!
Anyway, one of the other women in the group said to me today that I remind her of Paris Hilton.
Ok, so I have the tan and the light blonde hair, but Paris Hilton?!!
The look on my face said it all.
“Oh, I know she’s trash…but she’s beautiful trash!”
How do you respond to that?!!!
I kinda like it somehow!
I got given lots of presents too.
A rose plant (Saint Rose, as she’ll now be known), a Bible bookmark, a statue of JC on the cross, a beautiful hand blown and decorated egg, a chocolate lamb of God and some mini eggs.
I love this stuff!!
Tonight is the big ceremony.
I have the outfit, the shoes beautiful, the jewels, the perfume and the make up all ready to go.
Fifi and I are going to watch ‘Under The Tuscan Sun’ now whilst I paint my nails.
Only about 7 hours of being a heathen left!!
