(no subject)
Um, hi everyone. It's been a really long time since I updated. This is pretty much how all my entries start. And they all end with me saying that I'll try to update more frequently. We all know that's never going to happen.
So important updates. Work is going well. I've settled into a template of 6 nights in a row and 8 nights off. It sucks the 6 nights on but is totally worth it when I have the 8 off. I also have a second job teaching lab at UP. I did some iv labs this summer and I'm going to co-teach one of the junior nursing fundamentals labs in the fall. I'm excited slash/nervous. I'm faculty now, it's really weird.
Today was my birthday! I am officially 24. It would have been a lot more fun if I hadn't had the plague. Friday night my lips felt really chapped/cracked. That developed into blisters all over my lips and then segued into my lips swelling to about 3 times their normal size. I looked like I had really bad collagen injections. Theories ranged from a seriously awful cold sore, an allergic reaction, hand foot and mouth disease, to a bunch of other ones. The winner was contact dermatitis. Which is more or less an allergic reaction that causes swelling and blisters. It was pretty awful but I'm glad it wasn't anything serious. I just hope it never happens again. I have no clue what caused it though. I'm pretty much better so that's nice.
My most important piece of news though is that I'm buying a house! It will officially be mine August 24th and I'm super excited! Nervous but excited. Once I get settled there will be a housewarming party of course.
