Plants, painting, and school

I painted tiger lilies today. I'm sure that they're not the prettiest bunch of tiger lilies that anyone has painted but I am exceedingly proud of them. I wish I had a camera/scanner so I could show them off. It makes up for the fact that I accidentally ruined some cool abstract art that I was painting last night. I don't know what, but there's something about my dorm room that makes me want to be artistic. Probably all the natural light that I get and the fact that I have a nice desk to spread out on.

For Christmas our friend Tina gave me a really awesome plant. It's a tree plant and I've always wanted a tree plant. And there are two of them in the pot and they've intertwined as they grew. I've named them Thanatos and Hypnos after the twin greek gods of death and sleep. In sad plant news, Bug-chan died. RIP Bug-chan.

As for school, so far I'm happy to be back. It's nice to see all of my friends and I think I'll enjoy my classes. I had lab yesterday and that was a lot of fun. We did IVs and sort of learned how to start and IV on manikin arms. I completely fail at starting IVs so it's lucky for all of my future patients that almost all IVs are started by IV therapist nurses.

Clinicals start next week which is both terrifying and exciting. I have to be there at 6:45 in the morning. Which means I have to leave school at 6. Yuck. Half the time I can't wait to be a nurse and to get out there and the half of the time I don't why I ever decided to do this. But in the end, I'm happy with my decision to go to nursing school. I'm good at this and I enjoy it. And it pays a ton of money. Because money makes the world go round.
