Weekend Update with Kelly F

...For all the SNL fans who would get my joke...anywho...

Firday= worked, went to the gym, busted some more ass, and then hung out with Ashley and Stu for a bit. They are really so sweet together. Makes me happy. Then I stopped and got something to eat, came home and talked to the parents. Due to my late nights, I usually go a couple of days at a time where I don't see them at all and we don't talk. So we played catchup on the week's events.

Saturday: Dragged my ass out of bed to go bridesmaid dress shopping. I met Ashley at her house, and we drove to her mom's. Ashley's sister in law, Nikki, is also a bridesmaid, and she went with us too. I've got pics of all this...Hmmm. Should update with visual aids, shouldn't I? Will come back and edit in the pics. Anyhow, the second place we went to was Bridal Collection on 64, and that's where we found "the dress." Nikki and I both tried it on, and it was really comfortable. It's very simple and not at all sparkly. As a matter of fact, I really think it can be worn beyond the wedding day. It will be platinum colored, which I am sure will look ok on me, Nikki, and Mary. It's a very classy, elegant dress. Not fancy, which is just what is needed. Ashley's dress is not extravagantly fancy, and it's a candlelight color so the muted tone of the platinum should look quite nice. And it lets her pick ANY colors for flowers, decorations, and (possibly) cake icing. So...all's well that ends well in that department. At least for the next few months, ;) I also have pics of Ashley in her wedding gown, but I will not be posting those. If you want to see, you will have to score an invite to the wedding. :D

Sunday: I have been a complete slug today. Had all kinds of intentions to go to the gym, but Mary called this afternoon and we ended up talking for THREE AND A HALF HOURS. :D Haha. I miss that girl something awful. She's doing really well, and really really wants me in Phoenix next year. Who knows how that will turn out? I *did* get a shitload of work done on Jess's scrapbook. I would say that I am probably about halfway done. That motherfucker is huge. I also was downloading some music today. I owe Trinh a couple of CD's, and I really want to make one before work tomorrow. Hopefully I can have one completed and another halfway done. I know I won't be doing shit on Tues. And I will be hella tired. I think I will take a Benadryl with me to work tomorrow so that I can take one before I head home. Then, by the time I get there, I will pass the fuck out. "Nothing hurts when I go to sleep."

Tuesday will be a good day, but crazy. First game, though not counting toward the season. YAY for hockey. I gotta work Tues. though, so we will be hauling ass to the DCC. Gotta buy some fresh batteries tomorrow too. And charge some tomorrow. So much to do, so little time. CC will be riding down with me, so that will be good. I like company. :) Speaking of...

I haven't had HBO in a loooooooooooong time. Have never seen the Sopranos, or Six Feet Under, and I had never seen Sex in the City until recently. The other night, Ashley and I hung out and watched a few episodes. I really like that show. One of the shows we watched was one about being single. It's called Single and Fabulous? or something like that. It ends with Carrie making herself go out for a glass of wine alone. And it was like a reaffirmation (I am not even sure if that's a word). Yay for being single. But I have to admit that I don't really like going to the movies or shopping or out to eat or anything like that alone. I would rather go with a friend, or friends plural. And I really need to get over that. If I spend the rest of my life without a partner, I am not going to give up doing those things. And I have to get comfortable going on trips alone too, b/c I am not going to give up traveling either. And sure, I will still have friends to do some of these things with. But they will have husbands and wives, and eventually children. Their lives will be busy. And I will have the time to go see Canada and France and England and Australia, etc. They will not. They will be taking care of their kids and spending time with their spouse. They will be going to Disney World and Libertyland and the Fair. And visiting with other parents while their kids play together. And taking them to swimming lessons and hockey practice and horseback riding.

So it's about time I got comfortable on my own. And I imagine that will be the case some this year with hockey. I have season tickets. Jess does too, but she will be gone in a month. And Con and CC will try to come to some games, but I know they won't make them all. So maybe that's where I'll start. :) Sitting on the glass, hating Brandon's parents, but cheering with the family next to us, or the people behind me. Or maybe just cheering on my own.

Sometimes you have to cheer by yourself.
