A Man with No Past

Jun 06, 2006 11:14

My life is compartmentalized.  My entire past separated into segments like a tapeworm.  And there are no bridges to let the people I still love cross from bit to bit.  Some slip through, but mostly they stay put.

I'm feeling melancholy, nostalgic.  You're going to put up with it.

I spent hours this morning digging through webpages, trying to find a ( Read more... )

one study suggests that taking probiotics, such as I mentioned with digestive enzymes and yogurt can supress the effects of the bacteria,

you can check out more on alternative treatments for ulcers here:

this is from there:
Effects of ingesting Lactobacillus- and Bifidobacterium-containing yogurt in subjects with colonized Helicobacter pylori.
Am J Clin Nutr. 2004 Sep;80(3):737-41.
Evidence suggests that ingesting lactic acid bacteria exerts a suppressive effect on Helicobacter pylori infection in both animals and humans. Supplementing with Lactobacillus- and Bifidobacterium-containing yogurt (AB-yogurt) was shown to improve the rates of eradication of H. pylori in humans. OBJECTIVE: We administered AB-yogurt to subjects with asymptomatic H. pylori to test whether the yogurt could inhibit H. pylori growth. DESIGN: The in vitro inhibition of H. pylori growth was determined by inoculating Lactobacillus acidophilus or Bifidobacterium lactis on plates that were inoculated with H. pylori. CONCLUSION: Regular intake of yogurt containing Bifidobacterium lactis and Lactobacillus acidophilus effectively suppressed H. pylori infection in humans.

You might also consider the effect that the soda you consume is having on your stomache. I don't know much about this, but people have said that dark sodas are horrible for your stomache.
Nutrasweet has also been found by some to be very toxic.

I'm aware of the smoking bit. Given the was this thing is currently fucking up my life I'm still allowing myself that vice however--since everything I hear says that nicoteine delays healing, but doesn't stop it entirely.

As to the sodas: I didn't ask you for supplement advice out of the blue. Friday night I had a rather severe "episode" in the ulcer department and since then my diet has consisted of water, bananas, whole wheat bread, low-fat peanut butter, noodles, water, bananas, bananas, bananas, lean turkey, skim milk, carrots, water, bananas, bran, and some green tea from time to time to stave off the caffeine withdrawl headaches. I am no longer allowed, and have not been consuming:
-Soda
-Coffee
-Black tea (tannic acid)
-Alcohol
-MSG
-Beans, nuts and seeds (they lodge in ulcers readily)
-Fat (stimulates the acid producers in the stomach)
-Tomatoes
-Citrus fruit
-Broccoli, onions, bell peppers, brussel sprouts (don't know why, but all the research seems to think it's a good call)
-Chocolate
-Butter
-Anything even slightly spicy

...to name just a few. I am on the no-fat, no-fun diet. I want supplements so that my duration on this diet of hell can be as short as possible. I bought some L-Glutamine last night. Been taking it. Three times a day...whoo. Thanks for the acidophilous tip-- I bought a bunch of yogurt, we'll see how it pans out.

Any word on the mastic gum?
