Love from the Drumming Neanderthal: Chapter 11

Just for you, I've put the story ounder lj cut so I don't take up your entire friends screen. I still don't quite understand why you'd need this (I personally hate opening numerous links) but I guess I have to live up to the computer standards.

We hastily grab food from the large buffet at the dinning hall, then scurry up three flights to the library. Getting through the library with plates of food appears to be quite difficult. The rows of books are almost maze like and seem to go on forever. Finally, we find Clark slumped in a moth-eaten couch typing away at his computer.
"You had to sit all the way in the back!" Jacob complains.
“They have the best seats here. Hey, what did you bring?" Obviously, he can smell the chicken, meat pies, stew and baked pudding dessert quite well. We happily spread ourselves on the couch, passing forks and glasses while chattering about our classes.
"I swear, if I have to do another portfolio for History, I'm gonna puke!"
"Well, at least you don't have Mr. Gork. We have to read three chapters on the first day for homework. And on top of that, it's Hamlet!"
"All right, let's look at this math." Jacob sips his juice and begins glaring at the "quiz". "Well, it looks like I'm about half done. Why don't you do the next six problems, Clark you do the graphs and I'll do the rest."
Again, I find myself trying to accomplish the impossible. The numbers could be Greek for all I know.
"Why don't we do these together?" Jacob suggests after noticing that I've almost chewed my pencil in half.
About twenty minutes later, I have confidently remembered what's going on in Algebra world.
"Thanks Jacob, you really know your stuff!"
"And you’re a great learner. Say, I tutor younger kids in math, and maybe I could tutor you as well?” Although it sounds a little insulting to relate me to younger kids, I'm sill delighted with the offer. I mean, he is hot.
"Sure! When should we start?" I reply with a smile.
"How does Thursday sound? After school?"
"Okay!"
"Hey," Says Clark, "Why don't we kill the spare time and head down to the dinning hall?" So we eat the remainder of our lunch in the dinning hall, and then head off to the rest of our classes when the bell rings.
When I come home that night, Lila is waiting for me at the train stop.
"What was it like? You meet new people? Huh? Tell what happened!"
"Yeah, I met a few."
"Well? You must say more!"
"I made some friends. There were these two brothers. One was older than the other. His name was Roy, and the other guy is Clark. Clark's blind. I also met a guy named Jacob. He's going to be my math tutor."
We begin to walk to the car. The driver opens the door for us as we hop into the back seat.
"You are popular Miss Sasha!"
"Well, people talk more in this country." Lila gives a faint smile.
"I know why. Is cuz you be attractive."
"Attractive?"
"They no know it, but they are attracted to you cuz of hidden female charm."
"What?"
"Plus, you is different culture. Men like the exotic."
"They just wanted to be my friends."
"Maybe." She gives another little grin and looks out the car window. In the silence that follows her comment, I think deeply about what she said.
What if they are attracted to me? Maybe Jacob…. Nah. If I was so attractive, I would have been noticed back in New York. Besides just Jeff.
"Say Lila," I ask. She looks at me and raises her eyebrows. "If I'm getting attention because I'm attractive, how come no one noticed me back home?" That will hit the spot. I doubt she'll be able to answer that.
But to my surprise, Lila laughs, throws her head back and openly flashes the sexy gap between her teeth.
"I thought that be obvious Sasha." She cackles. "Now that you Remundo, you have zee confidence. With zis confidence, men see you for you. They are attracted to ze real Sasha. Back home, Sasha is hidden. Now, she be out under all zer noses."
"So, I'm more confident when I'm a boy?"
"Exactly!"
We drive to the apartment and are greeted by a full four course dinner. Later, feeling at least ten pounds heavier, I make my way to bed. I unravel the wrap on my chest and slip into my pajama bottoms and tank top. While doing so, I glimpse myself in the mirror. There, staring back at me is Sasha. I feel different. Somehow, Lila's right. When I'm Remundo, I am another, more confident person. When I’m a boy does my inner female jump out, or was Lila just exaggerating?
