Love from the Drumming Neanderthal: Chapter 5

May 15, 2005 20:14

I decided that this story will no longer be called "Story" I created the title Love from the Drumming Neanderthal, and will write what chapeter will follow for each entry. I think this will make life easier for me.

That Friday we had to wake up at four in the morning in order to catch our flight. I was able to stuff everyting I wanted to bring in two suitcases, plus an extra backpack for my roller blades.
As we flew over the Atlantic Ocean, Lila talked for about three hours about her culture.
"You and me, we have brown skin. You know why? It because I born in Iran then move to America. There I meet your father. I move to London and live there now."
I found it funny that my dad had told me that he and Timothy had adopted me from Iran, but I didn't say so to Lila. Truthfully, I was still a little annoyed that I had to miss the date with Jeff. I was too nervous to call him last night, and since we got up a four, I couldn't call him this morning. What would he do when I didn't turn up for the dance? Would he call my house and learn that I had moved to London? Would my Dad lecture him about how cruel it was to kick me off the team?
With all these questions pouring through my head, it was hard to concentrate on anything else. Butterflies had replaced the usual hunger in my stomach, so I didn't touch the breakfast the flight attendant had given me.
"Why no you eat your food?" Lila asked.
"I don't feel good." I grumbled. She seemed to get the hint that I was upset, and didn't bother me about it again. We sat in silence for the remainder of the flight.
Around midnight, London time, we arrived at Lila's quaint apartement, located in the high end of the city. She bolted out of our cab and ran up the staircase to the door. As I began to detangle our bags from the trunk, she bellowed,
"Sasha, leave the luggage. Mathew, mine bultler will take zem upstairs." Mathew wasn't the only luxury in the apartement. The place included gorgeus wood and stone floors, stain glass windows and many styles of expensive furniture. In one room, there were black leather couches, white plush carpets and stereo systems. Contrast to that, my bedroom was furnished with antique chairs and bed posts. My bed had an assortment of oriental pillows and blankets. I even had velvet curtains.
"I feel like a princess!" I squeeled. Lila, noticing my good mood, plopped down on my bed and smiled.
"You see nothing yet. We go out tomorow for tour of city. But first," She pulls out some pamphlets from her purse, "You need make some important decisions." She hands me the papers. "These are good schools. I circle ones I like best. I give you time to decide on which one."
"Are these private schools?"
"Yes, there are many. We talk in morning, I very sleepy." She gives me a huge hug than bonds out of the room. With a smile, I wait for the butler to bring my suitcase, and get ready for bed.
