A promise is a promise, and i don't intend to break it
It's been a while since i've written romance fics. I've written cracks for the past few days so yeah :P i need to get this off my chest!
Been planning this plot for a while already and finally i've put it together! :D
You see, i always dream of such romance which obviously it doesn't happen in real life so i always put it into my fics!

Summary: Eunhyuk and Donghae are the perfect couple. But happens when a third person suddenly confesses, and Eunhyuk realizes that he just doesn't love one person. Will the 'perfect couple' break apart, or will they remain in tact?
Warning: LOTS of crying. Edward Cullen mentioned (yes, wtf moment)
“We’ll always be like this together, right, Donghae?” Eunhyuk asked Donghae one night. The two were sitting on the roof, looking up at the stars that shown at night. Donghae looked at Eunhyuk and smiled. “Rest assured, Hyukjae, that whether there is some misunderstanding, that we would always end up together in the end… i promise” Donghae said, resassuring Eunhyuk. Eunhyuk looked up at Donghae and smiled. “I love you” Eunhyuk said, blushing slightly. Donghae smiled at him and pecked his cheeks softly.
Donghae, together with Eunhyuk, lived with another housemate. The 3 of them had rented the condominium and shared the rent. The 3rd housemate was Eeteuk. He was the older of the two, and of course, acts motherly towards them. It’s a habit, though, he had pent up some feelings inside of himself. But can he keep it to himself forever, living in a house with those 2?
Eunhyuk skipped happily back into their condo. He had a happy smile on his face. He had asked a friend how to make chocolates, and he was going to present them to Donghae. He hummed happily to himself. Eeteuk popped his head out of his room. “Umm… Hyukjae… could i talk to you for a second?” Eeteuk asked, stopping the humming boy. Eunhyuk turned to Eeteuk and smiled. “Sure, hyung!” Eunhyuk said energetically. He figured that a few minutes wouldn’t matter. He’d get the chocolates to Donghae on way or another anyways.
He entered Eeteuk’s room. Eeteuk beckoned Eunhyuk to sit next to him. There was silence. “So… what is it that you wanted to talk about?” Eunhyuk asked, breaking the silence. “Because if there’s nothing… there’s something that i have to-” Eunhyuk said, thinking about the chocolates and Donghae, but was cut off when Eeteuk finally said something. “H-how is your relationship with Donghae going?” Eeteuk asked, looking straight into Eunhyuk’s eyes. Eunhyuk was taken back at this question. ‘Why would he ask me such a thing?’, thousands of thoughts flew into his mind.
“It’s going great. Why do you ask?” Eunhyuk answered truthfully. Eunhyuk could see Eeteuk grab on his own pants, pulling them slightly, his hands trembling. “Eete-” but before Eunhyuk could finish his sentence, he felt something warm and harsh on his lips. His eyes widened. ‘What’s happening? Why is he…’ Eunhyuk was scared. He didn’t know what was happening. Why was Eeteuk kissing him? Why is Eeteuk’s hands trembling? He finally snapped out of it and pushed Eeteuk away, not before shouting a harsh note of “NO!”
Eeteuk was pushed to the ground. He fell on his butt, but he didn’t groan, nor did he complain. He only looked down, he couldn’t face Eunhyuk, could he? Eunhyuk looked at Eeteuk with fear written all over his face. “What…” Eunhyuk couldn’t finish his sentence; tears streaming out of his face, he ran out of Eeteuk’s room and instead, ran into his and Donghae’s shared room.
He burst open the door, dropped the bag of chocolates, only to be welcomed by a shocked Donghae. “Hyukjae… what…” Donghae tried to ask, but instead, found Hyukjae grabbing his shoulders, fear and sadness written all over his face. Donghae could see dried up tears on Eunhyuk’s face, even though the tears were still streaming down. Eunhyuk’s eyes were bloodshot red, and his nose was as red as a tomato’s.
“KISS ME!” Eunhyuk shouted. Donghae was puzzled. He didn’t know what was going on. “KISS ME DONGHAE!” Eunhyuk demanded. Donghae didn’t move. He could only see Eunhyuk’s crying face, more and more tears streaming out. Eunhyuk didn’t wait anymore. He plunged himself into Donghae and kissed Donghae harshly on the lips. He wanted the taste gone. He wanted the foreign taste gone, but mostly, he wanted those memories gone.
Donghae didn’t move, nor did he push Eunhyuk away. He gave in to the kiss, and patiently waited until Eunhyuk wanted to talk. After 5 minutes, Eunhyuk pulled away, his eyes dazed, before he fell into a deep slumber, tired after crying his eyes out. Donghae laid Eunhyuk gently on the bed, stroked his hair, and closed the door quietly, leaving his and Eunhyuk’s shared room.
He went into Eeteuk’s room. “Hyung…” Donghae said. Eeteuk got a shock. He jumped, before turning around and gave a weak smile towards Donghae. “Y-yes?” he asked, slightly stuttering. “Do you know what happened to Hyukjae?” Donghae asked. Eeteuk could only shake his head. Donghae sighed. “Okay, thanks. He’s acting weird. He came into my room, eyes brimmed with tears, and demanded me to kiss him. Thanks anyways” Donghae said, before turning around to leave the room. “He…” Eeteuk said. Donghae turned back around. “How is he now?” Eeteuk asked. Donghae smiled. “He’s asleep” Donghae said. Eeteuk nodded. “I guess i’ll wait until he wants to talk about it” Donghae said, and left the room. Eeteuk’s hands trembled. “What did you do, Eeteuk?” Eeteuk said to himself, angry at himself.
Eunhyuk awoke the same night, and Donghae was right next to him. “Hi” Donghae said, smiling at him. Eunhyuk gave a weak smile. “Are you hungry?” Donghae asked him. Eunhyuk slightly nodded his head. Donghae chuckled. Donghae got up and walked to his door, leaving to get Eunhyuk some food. “You…” Eunhyuk started. Donghae turned around. “you don’t want to know what happened?” Eunhyuk asked him. Donghae could only smile at him. Though he wanted to know, he wasn’t going to be a good boyfriend by forcing it out of Eunhyuk, right? “I’ll wait until you want to talk about it. I don’t want to force you” Donghae said, then leaving the room.
Eunhyuk paused, before crying to himself again. ‘Why did he have such a good boyfriend? What did he do to deserve Donghae? Absolutely nothing!’ Such thoughts ran through his head. Donghae came back with a bowl of porridge and saw Eunhyuk crying. “Hyukjae! Why are you crying?” Donghae asked, immediately rushing to Eunhyuk’s side. Eunhyuk looked up, crying even more. “Tell me what’s wrong…” Donghae said, with the most caring eyes and mouth on him.
Eunhyuk thought it over. He should tell Donghae. He was his boyfriend, after all. “Jungsoo…” Eunhyuk started. “Eeteuk?” Donghae asked. Eunhyuk only nodded. “What about him?” Donghae asked, his eyebrows furrowed. “H-he… k-kissed me” Eunhyuk chocked. Donghae paused, before all hell broke loose. He dropped the bowl of porridge, shattering the glass, spilling the porridge all over the floor. “DONGHAE!” Eunhyuk shouted. Donghae didn’t say a word to Eunhyuk before rushing out of his room.
Eunhyuk’s eyes widened. What was Donghae going to do? Eunhyuk immediately got up from the bed, forgetting about the spilt porridge and broken glass, he accidentally stepped on it. He winced in pain, but decided that there was something happening more important than this. He rushed to Eeteuk’s room, where he found Eeteuk laying on the ground, a deep red mark on his right cheek, and Donghae’s eyes burning with anger.
“WHY DID YOU KISS HIM?! WHO GAVE YOU PERMISSION TO DO SO?!” Donghae screamed at Eeteuk. Eunhyuk winced at Donghae’s loud voice. Eeteuk wasn’t ready to give up just yet, and he got up, his right hand over his right cheek, glaring at Donghae. “If you were secure about your relationship, you wouldn’t even care if i kissed him or not!” Eeteuk spat at Donghae. Donghae’s eyes widened and he grew even angrier.
He held his fist up high and punched Eeteuk. Eeteuk fell to the ground, the side of his lips bruised and a cut on his bottom lip. “YOU BETTER SHUT THAT MOUTH OF YOURS!!” Donghae shouted at him harshly. Eeteuk smirked. “What? No matter how much you beat me, do you think things will change?” Eeteuk asked him. Donghae’s eyes could only see red right now, and he grabbed Eeteuk by his shirt and raised his fist up high, getting ready to punch Eeteuk again.
Eeteuk looked at him straight in the face. “Go on… punch me…” Eeteuk told him. Donghae grew even angrier and gritted his teeth. Before Donghae could hit him, another pair of hands grabbed his arm to prevent him from hitting Eeteuk. “STOP!” Eunhyuk screamed, tears streaming out of his eyes. “STOP IT!” he shouted. Donghae turned around, seeing Eunhyuk’s scared face, he slowly put his hand back down and released Eeteuk.
“Hyukjae…” Donghae said softly. Eunhyuk ignored Donghae and looked at Eeteuk. Eunhyuk took a step forward, but Eeteuk took a step backward, the space between them exactly the same as before. “Eeteuk…” Eunhyuk said, before advancing forward. “No” Eeteuk said. “I have something to say” he continued. Eunhyuk stopped, and Donghae growled at him, though, Eeteuk unaffected by the growl.
“Hyukjae… no… Eunhyuk… say that you hate me. Say that you despise me because i kissed you. Say that you wished you had never met me” Eeteuk said, looking straight at Eunhyuk. Eunhyuk paused. Donghae looked at Eunhyuk. “Say it, Hyukjae. You don’t love him, right? What he did to you was unacceptable, right?” Donghae said to Eunhyuk. Eunhyuk nodded slightly. He opened his mouth to say it, but nothing would come out.
“Hyukjae?” Donghae asked. He wondered why Eunhyuk couldn’t say it. “Say it” Eeteuk said. Eunhyuk opened his mouth again, but it wouldn’t come out. “Say it!” Eeteuk said, a bit louder this time. “I-I…” Eunhyuk started, but nothing else would come out. “SAY IT!” Eeteuk shouted. Eunhyuk grew scared. “SAY IT AND GET IT OVER SO YOU CAN JUST KILL MY HEART AND I CAN GET A NEW ONE!!” Eeteuk screamed at Eunhyuk. Eunhyuk’s face was filled with fear. “I CAN’T!” he screamed. He paused when he realized what he just said.
Donghae turned to Eunhyuk with shock. Donghae looked down at his hands, before turning to leave the room. “D-Donghae!” Eunhyuk shouted, grabbing Donghae’s hands, stopping him from going further. Donghae stopped for a while. “Why couldn’t you say it? It was simple. You could’ve just said it, or… you enjoyed the kiss?” Donghae said, no soul in his voice at all. “No! I-I…” Eunhyuk stuttered.
“You couldn’t say a simple ‘i hate you’ to him! How can i still trust you when i know that your heart isn’t fully with me?! How can i still be ‘me’, knowing that you might have someone else in your heart…” Donghae said, still not looking at Eunhyuk. Eunhyuk could sense Donghae was crying, his voice tells it all. Donghae flung his arm, forcing Eunhyuk to let go of his arm. He then stormed out of the condo.
Eunhyuk then crouched down and cried. He felt the room spin, before totally blacking out. Eeteuk’s eyes widened. “EUNHYUK! EUNHYUK!!” Eeteuk screamed, before calling 911.
Eunhyuk woke up, looking around his surroundings, he knew that it wasn’t his and Donghae’s shared room. ‘Donghae…’ His heart hurt when he thought of Donghae again. “Eunhyuk…” Eunhyuk heard a voice above him and saw Eeteuk. “I-I’m sorry… I…” Eeteuk apologized. “Don’t…” Eunhyuk said, and gave Eeteuk a weak smile. “Why… Why are you so nice? After i’ve hurt you so much…” Eeteuk asked. He wanted Eunhyuk to hate him. He wanted Eunhyuk to despise him. That way, he could forget about his affection towards Eunhyuk.
“Because what Donghae said wasn’t wrong…” Eunhyuk said. Eeteuk’s eyes widened. “I know of my feelings…” Eunhyuk continued. “Don’t…” Eeteuk began. Eunhyuk looked up. “Don’t continue” Eeteuk said, his voice slightly trembling. Eunhyuk pulled Eeteuk down. Eeteuk was shocked. Eunhyuk landed his lips softly onto Eeteuk’s. Eeteuk was shocked, but he didn’t move. Eunhyuk broke away from the kiss and smiled at Eeteuk. “I know of my love for you. I know there is love there…” Eunhyuk told Eeteuk. Eeteuk looked at Eunhyuk.
“But it’s not enough to beat my love for Donghae…” Eunhyuk continued. Eeteuk then smiled, not a happy smile, not a sweet smile, but a bitter and relieved smile. “I know…” Eeteuk said. Slowly, tears started streaming out of his eyes. “You know…?” Eunhyuk asked, shocked. Eeteuk nodded. “I could see it. Only Donghae’s the stupid one who doesn’t know. Instead, he threw away such a beautiful flower” Eeteuk said, slightly brushing his fingers on Eunhyuk’s cheeks.
“I… I’m moving…” Eeteuk then said. Eunhyuk’s eyes widened. “Move? Why??” Eunhyuk asked. “Is this about the problem? If it is, i can talk to Donghae about it! It doesn’t matter! I-” but before Eunhyuk could finish his sentence, Eeteuk cut him off. “No” Eeteuk began. “I need to start a new life. Get away for a few months or so. Forget about this fight. Forget about the mishaps” he paused before looking at Eunhyuk and smiled at him. “Forget about my love for you” he said. Eunhyuk slowly cried. His best friend, the hyung he was always dependent on, is leaving.
Eeteuk laughed at him. “Silly boy. Don’t cry…” Eeteuk said, smiling. He didn’t get any response from Eunhyuk, except for a few sobs. Eeteuk then hugged Eunhyuk and chuckled. “It’s not worth crying over…” Eeteuk said, even though he himself felt that he needed to cry. After 5 minutes, Eeteuk broke the hug and smiled at Eunhyuk. “Now then, someone’s waiting for you” Eeteuk said, and got up from the bed, walking towards the door. “Someone?” Eunhyuk asked. Eeteuk just smiled and left the room.
“You…” the man said. Eeteuk looked straight in front of him, which was a wall, and sighed. He then turned to the right and looked at the man. “I’m done” Eeteuk said to him. “You’re really leaving?” he asked. “Yeah…” Eeteuk answered, smiling to himself. “Now, please excuse me… I have a few tears that i want to shed” Eeteuk said, turning to his left. “You…” the man said. Eeteuk stopped. “You’re going to be okay?” he asked. Eeteuk smiled. “Time will heal me, Donghae. Time always heals everything” Eeteuk said, before walking away.
Eunhyuk, meanwhile, was still waiting in the hospital room. “Someone?” he repeated to himself. He saw the door knob twist, and someone opened the door. Eunhyuk’s eyes widened. “D-Donghae…” Eunhyuk stuttered in shock. “Hi…” Donghae said to him. “D-Donghae! About yesterday, I-” Eunhyuk wanted to explain but was cut off by Donghae. Donghae advanced quickly towards Eunhyuk and landed his lips onto Eunhyuk’s, successfully shutting him up.
Eunhyuk got a shock. Still, he didn’t push away and question Donghae. He melted into the kiss. Donghae pulled away after a while and smiled at Eunhyuk. “Eeteuk explained everything to me…” Donghae said. “I’m sorry. I was foolish, i was everything but a good boyfriend at that time. I guess i should’ve been ‘Edward Cullen’, huh?” Donghae chuckled. Eunhyuk smiled. “No. You’re perfect just however you are. No Edward Cullen. You’re a million times better than him” Eunhyuk said and raised himself up to kiss Donghae softly.
“Besides… plus, i made a promise right? A promise is a promise, and i’ll keep it… and i also found a packet of chocolate on the floor when i went back home to pack my stuff to move” Donghae said. Eunhyuk then paused. “You… you were going to move??” Eunhyuk asked, his eyes starting to tear up. Donghae chuckled. “Not anymore, baby… not anymore” Donghae said, and kissed Eunhyuk’s nose lightly. Eunhyuk giggled at the ticklishness.

It’s been 8 months. Donghae and Eunhyuk didn’t move. They didn’t do anything to Eeteuk’s room as well. It was the same as before, nothing unchanged. The door bell rang. “Hyukjae! Can you get that?!” Donghae shouted from his room. Eunhyuk ran to the door and opened it and gasped.
“Hyukjae! Who is i-” Donghae wanted to ask Eunhyuk, but cut off when he saw who it was. “Well well… 8 months was long enough?” Donghae asked, chuckling. The latter smiled. “More than enough” he said. Eunhyuk couldn’t stop smiling. He was too happy. “I’m so happy you’re back!” Eunhyuk shouted in glee and plunged himself onto the latter. He chuckled and accepted the hug. Donghae frowned. “Tsk… still jealous? Relax, i’ve forgotten about him. I’ve got someone else in heart right now” he chuckled. Eunhyuk’s eyes widened and pulled away from the hug.
“Who?!” he asked, shocked. Eeteuk smiled. “Come in, Youngwoon ah” Eeteuk beckoned. A tall, bulky man walked in and smiled. “Hello. I’m Youngwoon. You can call me Kangin. Nice to meet you” he introduced himself. “He looks like a racoon” Donghae mumbled softly. Eunhyuk kicked his leg with his own, but showed a happy smile on his face. “Nice to meet you! I’m Hyukjae, you can call me Eunhyuk if you want. And this is Donghae” Eunhyuk introduced himself and Donghae. “Hyukjae… is he…” Kangin asked, looking at Eeteuk. Eeteuk nodded and smiled.
“You 2 don’t match as a couple at all…” Kangin said, while the others were expecting frowns or jealousy. Eeteuk couldn’t believe it. He wanted Kangin to be jealous. “A-Anyways… i wanted to know if my room is still free” Eeteuk chuckled. “Of course!” Eunhyuk shouted with glee. “Is there a spare room?” Kangin asked. Donghae and Eunhyuk looked at each other and chuckled. “Definitely a new-born couple!” Eunhyuk said.
“Both of you are going to sleep on the same bed, in the same room, of course!” Donghae said as-a-matter-of-factly. Kangin’s eyes widened. “B-but! We’re not at that stage yet!” Kangin got a huge shock. “No worries. It’s all normal” Eunhyuk said with a sly smile. Kangin gulped. But still, he already felt at home. He saw 3 of them chuckle at their reunion, and couldn’t help but be happy he was involved in all of this.
