Jaejoong received his next note from Yunho a few weeks later. He had just returned home from a night out drinking with Yoochun and Junsu. It had been one of their recently very rare free nights and they had wanted to do something together for once, since their recent filming, solo activities and acting hadn’t given them much time to hang out has a group. They had chosen their favorite bar, had had some great cocktails with unpronounceable names and had talked like in the old times. It had felt refreshing. They had decided to rather walk home instead of calling a taxi as their manager had made them promise to do, in order to enjoy the amazing night air of an early summer day. They hadn’t been drunk, but tipsy enough to not care if they were recognized as they were dancing down the streets arm in arm. Luckily for them, it had been too late for any fangirls to be out on this school night.

Jaejoong had said good bye to the other two in the elevator when they had gotten off on Junsu’s floor and went up further to his own apartment. Upon entering, he almost slipped on something lying on the floor directly behind his door. Cursing under his breath, he tried to calm his suddenly raging heartbeat, threw the door shut and went further down the hallway, where his cat was waiting for him. The singer crouched down to pet the animals, which had grown very attached to him over the time, and only then remembered that there had, indeed, been something on his floor. He got up and went back to inspect the culprit that almost made him break his neck.

There, lying in the hallway, was a big, brown envelope. Someone must have slipped it under the door in his absence. It didn’t even cross his mind that this envelope could be from his lover, too used to the parcels he usually received. Opening it and curiously peeking inside, he spotted something pretty small in comparison to its big packaging. Jaejoong pulled it out, took a look at it. He gasped, his back collided with the door and he slid down on it to the floor.

The photo was taken during their Mirotic times, not too long before the law suit. Back then they had asked a photographer, who was a childhood friend of Yunho’s, for the favor of taking some romantic pictures of them. Jaejoong had never actually seen the outcome of the shoot because of the communication ban laid upon them pretty early on, but looking at the picture now, he still vividly remembered the shooting session.
Tears welled up in his eyes almost immediately and it took him some minutes to calm down enough to actually notice the note attached to the picture. Meaningful goals and wishes. What could Yunho have meant by that? What more, than his most precious music, was meaningful in his current life? If he knew, he didn’t have to read all those self-help books that took up the majority of space in his bookshelves, after all.

Feeling a bit lost, he took the elevator back down and knocked at Junsu’s apartment door. Junsu opened almost immediately and let him in without asking questions, probably assuming that his mate just wanted to continue their drinking session despite himself and Yoochun already having changed into their PJ’s. Jaejoong wordlessly advanced into the living space so familiar to him and found Yoochun on one of the high chairs in the kitchen. Junsu had followed suit and motioned for Jaejoong to sit while he himself leaned against the counter opposite from his lover and his friend. Yoochun put aside the magazine he had been reading and looked at his soul mate. He could feel that the other had something on his mind.
“Spill.” he just said and leaned forwards, his head resting on his hands.
“Do you…have any meaningful goals?” Jaejoong hesitantly asked and looked at the other two with big eyes, like a child asking his mommy for a lollipop from that huge jar of candies on the top of the shelf.
“Well yeah,” Yoochun answered immediately. “I fully plan to make Junsu prepare some late night snack for me. That’s my goal.”
“He was talking about meaningful goals, idiot.” Junsu huffed, crossed his arms in front of his chest and thought about the question.
“You can always ask Minnie how meaningful food is. I’m sure he at least would be on my side.”
They fell silent for a while after that, each lost in their own thoughts, before Jaejoong sighed and murmured “I miss them.”
Yoochun got up and went to give his soul mate a hug. “Me too.”
Junsu, always the one to weep easily, sniffed and went around the counter to envelop both his friends in a tight bear hug.
Later that night, after Yoochun and Junsu had agreed upon making Jaejoong cook for them, they were all sprawled over Junsu’s enormous living room couch, bellies full, minds blissfully clouded by the alcohol and dead tired. When Yoochun’s soft snoring drifted over to him, Jaejoong snickered lowly. He thought back on their pre-debut days when they were all forced to sleep in one room in some hut during one of their training camp trips to the mountains. His best friend had kept everyone awake all night with his snoring and to pass the time, since they wouldn’t be able to sleep anyway, they had plotted various mean ways to make the culprit shut up. They were all so carefree and happy back then. Jaejoong wished they could go back to those days. Before he, too, drifted off to sleep, he remembered his first shooting star he had seen a while back. He also remembered what he had asked for back then.

"Please let me be with Yunho again."

Yunho was his world, if someone or something outside of his family was ever as precious to him as his beloved music, it certainly was Yunho. So this was it. His meaningful wish. He wanted his boyfriend back. His boyfriend and his baby Changmin. He pressed his eyes together and wished for it so hard, it should be impossible for it not to happen. If only things were as easy. A small tear made its way down his pale cheek as he finally drifted off to sleep.

Everyone keeps asking for Yunho. :D You don't really want to know if he will appear, right? I mean, you wouldn't want me to spoil, well, everything? It's only 2 chapters left, so please hold out until then, so I won't have to spoil anything. ;)

Comments, criticism and suggestions are welcome. :)
