Oh, wow. I loved this, and I have to go off now, but I can't wait to read the rest! I think you've just sold me on Jon/Spencer - I love these stories, things being the same through the years and changing a little and going from acquaintances to friends to lovers.

Every once in a while, on the last syllable, Jon does little jazz hands at his knees in an attempt to make Brendon smile where he's curled up moping about something on the floor.

I DO JAZZ HANDS WHEN THAT COMES ON TOO!

OMG, and then I smile and think of Empires.

Get out of my brain!

It's strange, because I've always been able to picture them changing their name like you mentioned. Ryan being all, "we can't reach new people with this name, they're all just judging us." And Spencer being all "how pretentious are you, seriously?" To see the idea toyed with, even in a funny way, in a fic was kinda cool. :]

I am never, ever going to forget that phone number. And now it's in my head again. I swear, I haven't seen that commercial in years, AND YET.

(And they always had that little cut-in before EMPIREEEEEEEEE was finished, the "today!" and seriously, why is this so true?)

Anyway, I'm not done reading. Also, I think I've read this before. xD We'll see.
