Last night I straight-up had a dream about breaking the experiment. LOL. As in, the first thing I did in that dream was have a chocolate cupcake (as I'd forgotten about my experiment -- though forgetting is not possible in my waking hours), and later in the dream I was browsing a grocery store for snack foods and had to put packages back when I realized I couldn't eat them. Ganbare, brain... XD
Day 2 (Sunday)
- no breakfast (oops)
- eggplant with miso, spinach, fried tofu, miso soup, salad
- miso champon with no noodles (think ramen with a ton of cabbage and bean sprouts, some shrimp and meat and fish cake -- but all veggies and no noodles)
Day 3 (Monday)
- miso soup
- deli salad -- mixed greens, hard-boiled egg, tomato, cheese, turkey/ham, vinagrette
- Chinese food -- hot & sour soup, egg fu yong, the meat insides of about three potstickers (XD), broccoli beef, and salt & pepper chicken wings
Day 4 (Monday)
- insides of a fast-food meat+egg burrito (no sauce but geh salty DX)
- more Chinese food?? -- green bean and chicken
- insides of a fast-food chicken sandwich
Day 5 (Wednesday)
- insides of same fast-food meat+egg burrito
- Deli salad, no cheese this time. Man, I love this salad. *___* i'll love it more when i feel like i deserve to have cheese back, w
- no-bun burger. Next time ask for no sauce.
Declined (Hey look, I do have willpower...!)
- Senior VP's homemade cookies/fudge
- Asian-style strawberry shortcake
- Drinks at a coworker's farewell party
- Donuts/bagels (I'm newly situated in a different office building and they apparently provide breakfast food every morning -- donuts, bagels, and fruit, that is)
And so now I know how hard it is to find plain things when you go out to eat. DX I mean even the vegetarian lunch box had agedashi (fried) tofu... Thus, despite being on "Day 5" of the experiment, I'm not actually at the point where the proteins I'm eating are good, lean meats that haven't been salted/sauced/battered in some way, or where the vegetables are non-legume greens. But I suppose it's part of a larger process, too. If I'd planned this at all better I could have made arrangements to have a cleaner diet these next couple weeks. Then again, it's a big lifestyle change. At least now I feel well on my way to committing to that change. :)
I also now know I will eat less if the food is unappetizing. I guess that's an indirect form of portion control ^^; i didn't realize i was disinterested in cabbage to the point of disliking it...
I kind of wish I were back in Japan. It was far easier for me to eat healthier there, in a number of ways. And also to exercise daily because you don't use your car when you live in the Japanese suburbs XD
