I'm tired of thinking about still being pregnant, so I'm thinking about other stuff.
My favorite restaurant in St. Paul closed -- Zander Cafe -- home to many birthday and anniversary dinners.
At work, my colleague and I were trying to figure out what "Southern Food" meant. We were stumped--it's certainly more than signature dishes like grits and shrimp or greens in much the same way that Ludefisk doesn't define Minnesota cuisine -- although Friskie's does sell something that strongly resembles it in a foil packet that my ancient cat loves...
So we recently ate at Watt's Grocery in Durham, which the local paper raved about:

The difference is how "done" the vegies are. Here they more cooked and have more done to them -- as in too much to my palate. It's not to say that they are spicier or more seasoned, just that they less vegie like. Hard to explain, I guess. The only vegie here I've not found that way are greens at our co-op (that's not really a co-op in the legal sense I've recently discovered) that braised with with ginger, garlic, and soy sauce. They are to die for, yet to despite my constant eating of them I am still hopelessly anemic.
Oops back to be PG talk.
