Another fun word-usage poll inspired by a discussion on facebook. I'm not sure if this one is a difference based on geography, but I suspect that it is.
My friends in high school LOVED Xanth. It was the Series to Read. I read some of them--well, I remember reading "Question Quest"--but after a while I got annoyed that he was having readers send in puns to use in his books. Write your own damn puns, Piers Anthony.
I read way too many of the Xanth novels - some of them were fun, but I've never felt like rereading any of them. I liked the Cluster series better, esp. Thousandstar (not Viscous Circle, though).
Seriously, though, I think I say "vicious cycle" when I'm thinking specifically about the time element, and "vicious circle" when I'm thinking about the relationships but not the time part.
