It’s been a long time since I´ve updated. Im apologize. So much happens and I just don’t have time to write it down! So, instead of covering everything that´s happened since my last update, I’ll just give you a basic rundown on the schedule of my day during the week. This is mainly for my parents, but everyone else can read it too.
6:30 am: wake up because my family turns on the radio to loud salsa music
7:00am-8:00am prepare to leave, most of the time is spent talking with my host parents about what Im going to do that day in class
8:00am: leave for school. I have to let myself out through several locks/doors then I walk downhill to the bus stop. The sidewalks here are quite interesting as they are pretty much poorly maintained stairs. I walk in the clouds of air pollution to get to my bus stop which is an approximately 15-20 minute walk. I have to race across the streets when I can as there are no pedestrian laws or traffic laws here. When I get on the bus, I have to remember to protect my bag so no one steals anything from it. Some guy tried to get into my bag but he couldn´t figure how to get through the 20 zippers I have on my bag to get to my money. Poor guy. While I walk to school, I have to avoid eye contact with the young guys so they don´t yell cat calls at me. That´s annoying. This all sounds terrible, but I really do enjoy my walk to school. It´s just an adventure every day.
8:30 -9am: at school, finish up homework, chat, stuff
9:00-10:30am first class of the day, very interesting, but the next time I update I´ll write about the classes
10:30am-11: break
11:00-12:30 class
12:30pm-2:15pm lunch, internet time, phone time, homework time. There´s this cute little cafeteria that I got to usually every day. They have sandwiches and batidos (juice, milk) and other delicious things. Today the guy that takes my orders every day told me that my spanish is getting better and that he was proud of me. Aw. How sweet.
2:15-4:15pm spanish class!
4:15-7:00pm. This time consists of salsa dancing class or studying or running around Quito. The salsa dancing classes are going better and I think Im developing a sense of rhythm. We´ll see. It´s tons of fun and a great way to relax after school with friends.
7:00pm: I usually begin the venture home and it´s basically the same as the venture to school
7:30pm Dinner with the family and such. We usually end up talking for 2 hours after dinner about our days and politics and such.
10:00pm: I fall asleep because I´ve been up since 6:30am when my family turned on the radio.
