Mia Sinead

Wednesday night, October 18th around 8:30 pm contractions started right out the bat 2 minutes in between. Stormy night like those in good stories.

We headed to the hospital. Earlier that day we went to the Doctor and he said I was 1 cm dilated and proceeded to strip membranes (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=1213265&dopt=Abstract).

He said he expected me to give birth at the beginning of next week. The poor guy had to get to the hospital around 1 am to deliver Mia to this world.
Less than 6 hours of contractions, no anesthesia, once I was fully dilated it took less than 5 minutes for the baby to pop out.

Beautiful baby girl at 2:15 am October 19th, 5 lb 14 oz, 19 in, tons of hair.

My friends Urszula and Barbara where in the waiting room throughout the whole thing. When I was done they put me in a recuperation room for 2 hours where I went over my experience with Urszula and Barbara after we told the nurse they were Will's sisters.

I am still getting used to the mommy life, accommodating study time, the recuperation process, and Doctors visits.

Special thanks to my friends Ivan, Monique, and Maria for hooking my sister up with Mia's pictures and the beautiful orchids.
