She groans as he walks cheerily into her office, not even bothering to knock. “What do you want this time?”
He ignores her question and her exasperated look pointedly. “It’s almost seven, Granger, time to clock off.”
She sighs and sets down her quill and pushes the proposal she has been working on all day aside. “Leave me alone, Malfoy.”
He frowns slightly. “That’s no way to talk to an esteemed colleague,” he chides gently though the smile on his face does not waver.
She lets her head hit the wooden table before her before groaning, “I need to do work-”
“You do do work!” he interjects quickly.
She lifts her head for a moment to glare at him. “I need to do work without you interrupting me every five minutes!”
“I don’t interrupt you!” he defends himself, “I only come to you when it’s time for your lunch breaks and when it’s time to clock off.”
“And you just sit there,” she continues sarcastically, “and stare at me until I talk to you. It’s highly annoying.”
“But I don’t bother you at all!” he retorts, “You just can’t keep yourself from speaking to me.”
She gives him a look. “You slot yourself in all my free time, Malfoy. It’s quite a bit too much for a person to handle.”
He frowns again. “I just wanted to be a good friend,” he admits, “You’re never annoyed when Potter and Weasley come over, so I thought…” he trails off, out of words.
She is staring at him like she’s never seen him before. He winces before he starts to inch out of her office. “I’m sorry, Granger, truly, I am.”
She sighs, feeling bad about reprimanding him. “Malfoy,” she smiles when he turns over, hopeful, “Give me five minutes then we’ll go grab dinner.”
