A/N: I KNOW. Remember that meme I did a while ago, the one with the odd pairings? Yep. This is it. For strawberrimelon, because only she knows which prompt/pairing positively bugs me. XD
Prompt: Lucius/Minerva plotting against Dumbledore. Which I couldn't really write so I did my own twist on it. =D

---------------------

She took a few steps back from him until her back met the cold stone walls behind her. Her breath was coming out in harsh pants as the man in front of her boxed her in. Her hand instinctively reached into her robes to draw out her wand, only to realise in despair that it wasn’t there.

She trained her eyes back on him. His eyes were closed as a small smirk played on his lips. He twirled a wand, her wand, in his hand.

His eyes flew open. “Minerva, Minerva… When will you learn that you can never run away from me?” He took two large steps towards her and she felt her stomach constrict.

“Get away from me!” She hated how weak, how scared she sounded. She was supposed to be the brave Gryffindor. “Don’t come any nearer.”

“Or what?” His eyes shone with amusement and she hated it. “What will you do to me, Minerva, what will you do?”

“Nothing,” she whispered. She hated how easily he could read her. She hated that she couldn’t resist him.

“Minerva…” His fingers trailed up her arms, until they reached her cheek. She could feel herself lean into his touch traitorously. “You are simply too predictable.”

“Not to others.” But she couldn’t stop the small smile that had fought its way up her lips.

“You’re right.” He pulled her in close against his body, fisting his fingers into her caramel brown hair. “Only to me.”

“Only you,” she echoed.

And then he kissed her. He kissed her hard and he kissed her long. He kissed her until all thoughts of why, what, how had flown out of her minds. He kissed her until they were both out of breaths. He kissed her until she could feel deep inside her that she would never belong to another again.

“Lucius…” she moaned. And he pulled away.

“There’s something I need to know, Minerva. Something that you can help me with.”

It was then that Minerva realised that Lucius Malfoy would never be able to love her. She dreaded to know what he wanted from her now. “What do you want, Lucius?”

“Dumbledore,” Lucius growled, “He is incompetent. Hogwarts cannot have him as a Headmaster. He would bring Hogwarts down with him, Minerva!”

She should have guessed. Every time this madness happened, he would need something from her. The saddest thing was that she would do his bidding every time.

But she couldn’t lie this time. It would have gone against everything she preached to her students in Hogwarts. “Albus Dumbledore is a great wizard.”

“Voldemort is a greater wizard.”

She gasped. She shouldn’t have felt surprised, but she was, all the same.

“Minerva,” Lucius continued, his voice soft and gentle, “Lord Voldemort would want a talent like you on his side. You could spy for him. You could be by my side. We could fight Dumbledore together.”

Minerva shook her head, backing away from him. Strangely, though, he did not stop her. “Lucius, you are a Death Eater.”

It was a statement, rather than a question, but he nodded, all the same. “His Lordship treats my family like his own.”

His family. His family in which she had no place. Minerva was no fool. Lucius and Narcissa were married for love. She was merely Lucius’ plaything. Nothing more than a tool.

Letting out a ragged breath, she drew herself to her full height. Her mind was in a mess, but when she spoke, she did so with grace and dignity. “Albus Dumbledore is a great wizard. And he shall be the man that will ultimately destroy Voldemort,” she paused to lick her lips, “And when that happens, I shall be cheering for him.”

“You are a fool, Minerva!” Lucius seethed. “You are making the wrong choice.”

She summoned her wand right back to her wandlessly then, catching Lucius off guard. Training her wand at him, she walked to the door. Eying him squarely, she said, “It’s the best choice I’ve made.”
