Hermione Granger had been happily minding her own business, dutifully trying to finish her submission of a case to the Wizengamot for tomorrow’s case, when Draco Malfoy waltzed into her office and dumped a large white box on top of her desk.

“What is the meaning of this?” she asked, visibly annoyed.

Draco smirked. “You are going to a fundraiser with me tonight, Granger.”

“Am I, now?” she asked, rolling her eyes, “How nice of you to make an appointment now.”

“I got you a gown,” he said, referring to the box on her table.

“So?”

“Go try it out!” His eyebrows arched up as he muttered ‘smartest witch my ass’ under his breath.

If Hermione heard him, she did not react noticeably. Instead, she said, “I will not be trying any gowns on because I’m not going anywhere with you.”

She stood to remove the box from her table, but he stopped her. “Don’t you at least want to see the gown first before you decide?”

“No.”

“Try on the gown, Granger, please. You’d look good in it.”

“How would you know?” she asked.

“Because you will be the one wearing the gown.”

She blushed. “I won’t be able to help if the gown is ugly.”

“It won’t be,” he said, amused, “I chose it.”

She laughed. “Thank you for considering me, Malfoy, but no thanks.”

“At least try the gown?”

“No, thank you.”

For a moment, Draco assessed her silently from where he was sitting, and then his eyes snapped shut while his lips tipped up in a small smirk.

Hermione glared at him, confused. “What are you doing, Malfoy?”

His eyes remained shut as he answered her question. “I’m visualizing you taking the gown out of the box. You will have a smile on your face as you take in the elegance of the dress. Then you’ll slowly shrug off your jacket and start unbuttoning your blouse slowly. First button, second button, third button… How visually appealing, Granger…”

“Stop it!” Hermione exclaimed, scandalized. Her cheeks were tinted red.

Draco’s eyelids slowly fluttered open. “Since you’re not going to put the gown on for me, I have to visualize it, don’t you think?”

“I am going to sue you for sexual harassment if you do not get yourself out of my office right now,” she seethed.

“Granger,” Draco started slowly, “please just put on the gown for me. In fact, we should have a little bet!”

Curious, she asked, “What bet?”

“If the dress fits you, you’ll go to the fundraiser with me. If it doesn’t, I get to take the dress off you.”

Hermione gave him a dry look. “You don’t lose, either ways.”

“Neither do you,” he replied, winking at her.

She rolled her eyes. “No, thank you. I’m sure you’ll be able to find someone more interested in this fundraiser than me.”

“Coward…” he teased.

“If you’re trying to rile me up, it’s not working.”

“Coward, coward, coward, coward…” he sang.

She bit the inside of her bottom lip, something she always did when she was in deep thought. But Draco’s constant singing was annoying her to no end.

“Alright! I’ll try on the damned gown!”

----

The gown ended up being a perfect fit for Hermione.

But Draco ended up taking it off her anyway.
