In England, I think people love their dogs more than their own kids. I know they love their dogs more than other people. You aren't even allowed to leave your dog outside at night unless it is a watch dog at a scrap yard.
Americans really get a bad name with their pets over here, and rightfully so. One airman PCSed(went to his next base) in the states, and a week later the landlord found a starving puppy in his house. Another man got pissed off at his wife, and actually killed her puppy by slicing its throat tossing it into a garbage bin. He's being both prosecuted by the AF and the British government. He'll have to go to jail for it. You read the Stars and Stripes paper, and there are pages of listing for dogs for sale in Germany, because it is 'too expensive' to fly them back to the states. I've heard that Germans are hesititant now to allow Americans to purchase their puppies. I know here in England, Juan and I had to visit the breeder a number of times and had to convince her that we would not abandon Julia.
But yeah, it's still sad it happens.
