I like Rush's music but no way am I taking advice from them *g*
On the debate side, when I started working at ex-place as a part-timer, I was without coverage. Just recently finished paying the surgical bill for the ovarian cyst, and I'm currently paying $400/COBRA for the second time while I search out a private insurer. Because last time, the cyst went officially undiagnosed until I hit the emergency room. Oh sure when the assistant physician (office visit cost less) was puzzled the head physician checked it and said "maybe it's this and we'll order this test if it returns" but that was 5 months after my first telling him about this pinch and after the test (out of pocket) on my spine for the nerve. And the ultrasound on the ovary would cost money and they'd have to see the person paying it instead of filing a claim. Well, when it returned, it was unbearable. Learned my lesson. Took their $70/paycheck coverage after I went fulltime, but the odds of getting THAT again: steep. Workplace-reliance-for-coverage Not A Help.
Last doctors visit, they were pretty upset by reductions in medicaid rates. But excited about the president's trial on records going onto a computer database. *throws up hands*
It's all about the money and nobody will be able to tackle it at its roots. It's like they're whacking away at the pretty leaves because that makes a big noise.
