and the day after was darker

Today I went to Kroger's and while I was in the check out I realized I forgot my "Kroger Card." This kind of pissed me off and immediately reminded me why I never shop at Kroger. I turned to the people behind me and asked if I could borrow theirs. They said yes...the world was right again...and I feel like we shared a little private moment of sticking-it-to-the-man. The "man" of course being Kroger himself - who would now be $1.32 richer if I had not teamed up with my check-out-lane-accomplices.

I now have 3 blogs....well 4. But that last one doesnt really count, so 3 and a half. It's difficult to keep up with them all. Unfortunately you, livejournal, get pushed to the back burner. I'm sorry. Dont take it personally.

I'm just about to begin my second year of grad school. Summer flew by extra fast. I swear a month was just cut out. Disappeared. In less than 2 weeks I'll be moving in to a new apartment with a new roommate. A week after that we will be hosting a party for the new people in our program and all those coming back. It should be fun....but hopefully we won't make enemies of our neighbors in the process.

I saw the movie Sicko and I feel like it really had an impact on me. I grew up thinking I lived in the greatest country. I mean, it took a while to discover that we weren't the only "land of the free." Then it sunk in that we allowed a cheat into the presidency. And now it's becoming clear that we dont care about our citizens....not when there is money to be made. I left the theater a little depressed and a little more open to living out of the U.S.

"I love the things that you've given me,
I cherish you my dear country,
but sometimes I don't understand,
the way we play.

I love the things that you've given me,
and most of all that I am free,
to have a song that I can sing,
on election day."
