Photo Prompt: Hands Tied

Agent Alex Forrest...my 49B. That's The Agency's terminology for internal affairs. They get some rat agent, have them show up and interfere with your job performance, and then tell you you don't do your job well. I haven't met anyone who has had a successful experience with a 49B, ever. Theoretically, you're supposed to get an evaluation, then another shot at it. No one higher up wants to deal with the paperwork, so usually you get fired. I got fired. Everyone always believes the 49B. After all, they wouldn't have their positions if they weren't great agents...right? Alex Forrest is a great agent, so great she almost had Chuck spotted by his sister, and almost got him killed.
OK fine. I understand, we're not supposed to be emotionally involved. To The Agency, Chuck is a computer. When we first met he was a computer. I get it. But how am I supposed to, how is anyone supposed to adequately protect someone if they don't take the time to know them? This isn't like I'm finding a computer chip, capturing some international assassin, I'm guarding a person. It's impossible not to be involved. Why the hell can't anyone else see that?!
Here's hoping none of us hear from any 49B anytime soon.

One of the hardest things I had to do on this mission was to sit in that van. I couldn't help them....and Chuck needed me. Forrest made sure to tell me, I was just there to observe not assist. Hands tied. I hate that.
If I didn't assist, the whole thing would have been blown. If I didn't assist, Chuck would have been killed. Then I would have had to live with the after effects, telling Ellie, Awesome, Morgan, everyone. I couldn't let that happen. They can't lose Chuck to something he never wanted....and neither can I.
