So tonight I was talking with my dear friend Whimbrel... And she mentioned that, much to our joint dismay, many vehicles on the road today sport bumper stickers with a large W on them. Our dismay comes from the fact that these stickers have nothing to do with the upstanding institution of the W Club, but rather with a cause of which I personally am much less in support.
In fact, Julia pointed out that technically, George W Bush could be a member in good standing of the W Club. W is a nickname, but so are Willow and Whimbrel and Whistler and Wazzy and Wren and...
Perish the thought.
After all, the W Club is not organized around any political cause save the advancement of the sound "W". This could be a divisive issue amongst the rank and file W-ers. It would surely be a divisive issue for Whimbrel and myself. (Not that we would divide. Just that we would be unhappy.)
This leads to the discussion of the new "W for life" logo, which was put into place with this summer's club. I have a t-shirt that says "W for life"! Julia and I were thinking of other ways to display our "W for life" pride. (That idea is still very much up for discussion in my mind. I'm a wimp. But hey, wimp starts with a W!)
I just don't know about this situation.
Eventually, Whim and I concluded that, having never worked at Camp Cherith, President Bush is currently ineligible for membership. Whew! (Another word that starts with W.) Still, that was a close call.
And now, for something completely different... There's snow on the ground! When are the ladybugs going to go away???
