I want to send a huge THANK YOU! to Ruth Baker and everyone at Daniels Elementary and to the West Virginia Humanities Council for making last Tuesday's AUTHORS DAY such a memorable occasion. Pictured left to right are Anna Egan Smucker, Cheryl Ware, Tracy Kincaid, Belinda Anderson, Marc Harshman and me-Sarah Sullivan. I spent the day doing writing workshops with first graders. We had a wonderful time.
They had all read my books beforehand and greeted me with beautiful pictures and written responses to my stories.
I was taking pictures like crazy because I wanted to bring their work home with me. I had to stop and take a snapshot of each one of their pictures. They are beautiful and I can't tell you how much I enjoyed them. Here are a couple of examples.

Mrs. Garten's class presented me with a beautiful laminated book containing letters each student had written about his or her family. I will treasure these. Thank you so much.

Mrs. Womack's class drew pictures and wrote about what they liked about my book, DEAR BABY: LET

TERS FROM YOUR BIG BROTHER.
These were wonderful too.
I wish I could post them all. And each student in Mrs. Meador's class had a question already prepared to ask me. They were so thoughtful. I enjoyed talking with them. And I loved the card they presented as I entered their classroom.
Thank you all so much. You inspire me, as do my fellow West Virginia writers who led writing workshops with students in all the other grades. What a wonderful day!
