It's been a long time in the making, but I finally give to you my first ever fanmix.
Medium: Television
Fandom: City Homicide
Subject: Simon Joyner
Title: Always on This Line
Warnings: very vague spoilers for Season 3
Notes: At the end of the mix, under the cut
01. This is Your Life - Switchfoot
This is your life.
And today is all you've got now.
And today is all you'll ever have.
Don't close your eyes
02. Nobody Sees - Powderfinger
Nobody know just how it feels today
Nobody sees how our hearts break
03. Afloat - Evermore
Oh, fighting to keep afloat
The world's a sinking boat
Fighting to keep afloat
04. I’m so Tired - Eskimo Joe
I'm so tired my feet don't touch the ground
I love the ocean so much I might even drown
05. No Turning Back - Sarah Blasko
But there's no turning back,
There's no turning back,
Stop those tears in their tracks,
Cause there's no turning back.
06. Silver Heart - Gyroscope
I'm all messed up...
Upset. Watch your footstep.
Follow in the backstreet.
Makes me see red
take another step and step down.
Standing on a rooftop shouting out (rooftop shout it out!)
07. Always on This Line - Sarah Blasko
oh, put your hands up,
claim your crime,
'cause you never had the time,
you still get to work just fine,
when you're always on this line,
08. Broken Bones - Birds of Tokyo
these broken bones
this busted smile
my head it hurts i should be leaving now
09. Vibrations in Air - Josh Pyke
Regret, is like a filter,
that colours all your endeavours
And once put on becomes a feature of your current works
10. Somedays - Regina Spektor
Somedays aren't yours at all
They come and go as if they're someone elses days
They come and leave you behind some elses face
11. Bodies - Little Birdy
I see the bodies lined up endlessly, ooh
I have survivors to revive, whoa
I'm sick of feeling this way
My bodies okay
12. Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door - Antony and the Johnsons
Mama, take this badge off of me
I can't use it anymore.
It's gettin' dark, much too dark to see
I feel like I'm knocking on heaven's door
always on this lineBonus track: Red - Daniel Merriweather (played during on the show during the scene my covers are made from)
Notes: Originally I made this mix a long time ago, just after Season 1 aired, but I never really liked it enough and I left it alone for a long time. I finally came back to it a few months ago, was ruthlessly cruel to it and with all the added drama from season 2 and 3 pretty much made a completely new mix with some similarities to the first.
I'm still not entirely happy with this one, and I'm putting it mostly down to first shared mix nerves because I don't think I can improve it much more than it already is. Feedback is very much appreciated.
And some musing on the music I've used: I tried to go mostly Australian to fit with the show. I'm a bit annoyed at having used Sarah Blasko twice, but couldn't leave either of the songs off.
