So, things are tense around my office because we are a construction company that cannot build.
We are ready to start on new houses, but we cannot, because the ground is too frozen to lay down slab to build on. Without slab, we got nothin.
Seriously, can we get out there with blow dryers and ice picks? Electric blankets? We NEED the ground to defrost!!
No building = volunteers with nothing to do. Which is my nightmare. Because they leave and don't come back and hate us forever which is the total opposite of what we want.
No building = no money coming in from selling houses & closing on mortgages.
No building = the first question out of everyone's mouth is "any news on...?" and looks of death from us, the staff, because no, there are no updates.
No building = EVERYONE BEING REALLY TENSE.
The good news is: the ground is muddy and it’s been warm all week.
The bad news is: a storm forecast for today-Saturday that will dump 3-5 inches of snow and re-freeze the ground.
Oh, and we’re throwing of one our biggest annual events tomorrow night, for our volunteers, in the middle of the storm forecast.
A lot of our volunteers are retired and will NOT come out if the weather is bad.
This sucks. It so totally sucks and there is absolutely nothing any of us can do about it.
