My race with the mailman
Today began as most of my days do. I had a leisurely breakfast around 10:00 of a pot of tea and some raisin bran and all bran cereal mixed together with a peach and read the newspaper. (other most common breakfast is a banana strawberry blueberry yogurt smoothie but not today, maybe it will be lunch)
I then got dressed and went for a jog by the river with a nice long walk warm up and cool down. Today I saw the usual mix of monarch butterflies as well as a variety of birds. It was very humid but overcast so I took it pretty easy. Once I had a nice layer of sweat covering me it felt a bit cooler out.
As I was walking around a residential area for my cool down, I saw a mailman up ahead of me. I caught up to him as he was coming down from delivering a piece of mail. He warmly greeted me and then asked if I wanted to race. I agreed, and to not disadvantage him because of his two large mail bags I began to quickly walk beside him. He then made a comment "Oh, you're only a walker" and so I took off and left him in my dust. I think he shouted something about me having a jump on him as I sped away. I look forward to a rematch, though I know he doesn't have a chance ;)
