A Night to Remember
Current mood: bouncy

So tonight I went to Rubber Gloves rehearsal hall to see Man Machine, Oso Closo, and Wheatus with my good buddy, Andrew Sapp. This seemed to be like any other night of hanging out at Rubber gloves with Andrew and jamming out to cool bands...

However, never did I think this would happen.

Man Machine and Oso Closo play their sets, which were Awesome with a capital "A" but then Wheatus goes up. For those of you who don't remember, Wheatus did the song "Teenage Dirtbag" which appeared in Loser with Jason Biggs.
The lead singer decides that the band will open with said song. They do so and much rocking out ensues. The band kind of slows down a little bit and the lead singer asks "Does anyone in here know how to freestyle?" So this one guy jumps up and does a verse or so, and jumps down. The lead singer, still not satisfied, inquires again, "Anyone else?" No one goes up. The lead singer then cajoles at his audience "Oh, come on. I heard about you guys here in Denton, I know someone in here can."

I then turn to Andrew and say, "Dare me to go up there and sing Ludacris?" To which he replied, "DO IT!!!" I begin to move toward the stage and the guy in front of me goes, "Yeah! Do it!" I get up there and people start clapping and cheering me on. (For those of you who know that I'm in theatre and love the limelight and attention, imagine what this approval is doing to me.)

I get on stage, get to the microphone and bust out the first verse to "You's a Hoe" The crowd is cheering along and singing the lyrics with me (which is not what I thought they'd be doing. I was figuring to get booed off the stage for not being original.)

Unfortunately, I didn't give Andrew my camera to get proof of this event. But ask him and he will testify on my behalf. But the best part of all is I can look someone in the eye and say without flinching:

"I once freestyled to Ludacris onstage with Wheatus during Teenage Dirtbag"

Who ever thought I'd live to do something that cool?
