Over lunch yesterday, I made a stop at the outlet mall to check out the sales on baby clothes. As I looked through store after store, I became more and more irritated. Every single store had their own version of monkey and dinosaur outfits or modes of transportation (airplanes, trucks, motorcycles). The variety and selection were much more limited ( Read more... )

Ah, the joys of shopping for baby boys. The sad thing? It just gets worse as they get older. Just what you wanted to hear, huh?

Seriously, though, when they are babies it is worth splurging on the better brands like gymboree, hannah anderson, baby gap. I wouldn't bother to buy a single thing at Target, Old Navy, etc. I don't know how it works, exactly, but the more expensive clothing resists stains a lot better. Target clothes will be ruined in one wearing. They get a stain and it is there forever. The other clothes are able to resist stains. It's great when you can find them second hand.

In regards to poop stains, we had excellent luck using hot water, borax and detergent. We also put a scoop of Oxyclean in every load and that really helps as well. The hot water and borax mix is a must in infancy, though.

That's about all the baby advice I have *lol*. Getting out poop stains is as controversial as I'm willing to get. Not that you wanted any advice at all, but I was thinking about it since I will soon have to either dig out all our baby clothes to get rid of or re-use depending on gender.

Yeah, poop stains are definitely something we'll have to deal with since we're planning to use cloth diapers. I guess I hadn't gotten so far as thinking about getting them out of clothes, though -- I'm sure before too long, I'll be thinking about it more than I'd like to be ;) This is good to know.
