How big of a dork am I?
So I went with my mom today to Toys 'R' Us to buy a gift for my soon to be six-year-old cousins birthday this weekend. I was like a kid in a candy store. I kept seeing all the classic games (Guess Who, Hands Down, Mouse Trap, etc.)! I also saw a ton of cute Curious George stuff.
(side note: I am so glad they came out with the Curious George movie which is bring George back to life again. Curious George had always been one of my absolute favorite children's book characters. The other day when I was at Borders Express I bought myself a copy of "Curious George Visits the Library" LOL... how big of a dork am I? All this talk of George reminds me of a favorite scene of mine from Friends. It is from when the gang is in Barbados for the dinosaur convention and Rachel tells Joey she likes him.
Joey: (desperate) What the hell are you doin'???
Rachel: I don't know, I'm not trying to do anything, it's just, we have such a good time when we're together, you know... I mean, aren't you just a... little curious... (insinuating) what that would be like?...
Joey: Uh, am I curious? I mean, I am as curious as... as... George!!
Rachel: (puzzled) Who...?
Joey: CURIOUS GEORGE! You know, the monkey, and the guy with the yellow hat!
Rachel: Oh yes, of course, I remember him!
Joey: Yeah, he had a paper route.
Rachel: Yeah, he did! (smiling) Oh, see, this is what I'm talking about!
After wandering the store aimlessly trying to figure out what a six year old boy might think is cool we resorted to calling both his mom and my other aunt for inspiration. We ended up leaving Toys 'R' Us presentless for the kid, although we did come up with an idea for something that apparently is no longer sold at that store.
I did however buy myself a gift at Toys 'R' Us. I bought myself Trivial Pursuit Book Lover's Edition. I had been wanting it for awhile and thought I had hinted pretty well that I wanted it for Christmas but didn't end up getting it. So Happy Wednesday to Sarah, she has a new game. If anyone wants to embark on a Trivial Pursuit Book Loving challenge, let me know.
