Perfect last weekend in Athens

This weekend was perfect... well almost perfect... I could of done without the fire alarm going off for an hour at 3:00 in the morning on Friday night... but besides that, things were good. I wouldn't have spent my last weekend in Athens any other way.

Started off the weekend on Friday going to see Chris Graham play at the Donkey with Durso. And on the way up there I got to meet Phil, the talk of Toledo if you will. That was kind of fun after hearing so many stories about him over the years.

Chris Graham was really good as always and pretty cute as well. There were some annoying high school kids there being rude and playing scattegories while he was singing. But overall, it was a good show and Durso and I had a really good conversation. On our way out we ran into Heather and Andrew who are getting married in October (crazy!).

We headed back to Riverpark to hang out with Kelly. We were sitting around talking when Matt came over. At that point the night because absolutely hilarious. At first none of us realized that he was drunk until he started laughing randomly at something that was not funny at all. So then he started telling us stories of The Post party that he had come from. It was funny because the stories kept going in circles and we must have heard the same parts two or three times. Some great quotes: "The good thing about facebook is that I can see the picture, and then see the name" "I was talking to Jake Meckelberg... the photo editor..." "Bix and I were talking, and he's been with the same girl for two years, but I've been with the same girl for more than two years so I beat him".

After that Kelly and Durso were talking and Matt started telling me about jamming with Tony Xenos the night before. It was funny because he would tell the story and get most of the way through and then start at the beginning again but earlier than he had the first time and tell it all through again.... so I must have heard that one like five times as well. But it was pretty funny.

We were unfortunately woken up at 3:00 a.m. when the fire alarm went off. Kelly and I decided that we were just going to stay inside because the fire trucks were already there and we didn't smell smoke or anything. We figured that since the firemen were already there they would quickly shut the alarm off. But unfortunately we were wrong. 45 minutes later after the fire trucks made a return visit the alarm was finally shut off.

Saturday was good. Did some work on my English paper. Lobsterfest was going on out on the beach in front of South Green so it was pretty loud all afternoon. A couple of the bands were not so good, but some of the others were pretty good. I went out there to see Southeast Engine play and they were really good.

Saturday night was our big half-shuffle. The night started out at 6:00 with Carrig, Durso, Matt, me, Lindsey, Jen, Kelli, Ashley, Becky and Doug. We knew that we wouldn't be able to do a whole shuffle so we decided to just see how far we would get and we hit about half of the bars.

Here's the path of our shuffle:
Courtside
Tony's
Casa
Pawpurrs
The Pub
Pigskin
Junction
Luckys
B-dubs
Smiling Skull

The shuffle was a ton of fun. After the shuffle we escorted everyone home and then Carrig, Matt and I went over to Whitney's party. This was a lot of fun too. I am really going to miss hanging out with everyone next year and hope that we keep in touch.

Sunday was spent mostly working on my English paper. I spent a couple of hours at the library and also went to church.

Last finals week of undergrad this week. Shouldn't be too bad. I am finishing up a paper that is due by 5:00 today. Tomorrow in my feature writing class we are having discussions of peoples feature stories and I have to lead the discussion for the paper that I critiqued. And Wednesday morning I have my sign language final. Not too bad.
