Wrapping things up...

Well it's week 10. It seems like it has both taken forever to get here and gotten here way too soon all at the same time. I am totally ready for this quarter to be over, yet at the same time I know that every passing day is one less day that I have to spend at Ohio University. It is weird how the beginning of the end feels. Like this is my last winter quarter. Crazy.

Anyways this week is more busy than it should be. So far classes have been per usual this week. The one cool thing is that Leonard Pitts came to talk to my community journalism class today. He is a Pulitzer Prize winning syndicated columnist for the Miami Herald. He is applying for the visiting professor position at Scripps for next year. I think it would be really cool if he got the position, however I am disappointed that I would not get the opportunity to take a class with him. And I know he would teach column writing, the course I have been wanting to take forever that they haven't offered in the past two years. Oh well.

Tomorrow is the last day of my five hour History marathons in Bentley. The only bad thing about being done with classes is that it means I have to start studying for my history finals. I think all three of them are going to be fairly challenging this time.

Also tomorrow I have to meet with John Sparhawk from the Oak Room to talk about catering for Formal. I have to meet with him at 9:00 a.m.! This should be interesting since most of the time on Wednesdays I am just rolling out of bed after 9, hopefully I make it there on time. And I am also hoping this goes better than the meeting I had with Baker Catering last week. I really want this Formal to be perfect - I think it is the bit of perfectionist in me. It seems like every time I get stuff figured out for Formal, something else goes wrong so hopefully that won't happen again tomorrow. We had a planning meeting for Formal on Monday night but half of the committee didn't come so we didn't get as much accomplished as I hoped so I was kind of disappointed about that. But hopefully I can pull this all together and turn it into a kick ass Formal.

Tomorrow is also the last Newman meeting of the quarter and the last meeting I have to plan as Social Chair. It is Toast to the Lord and per usual we are having a mass and then a toast afterwards. Everything is planned and it should go well and be a nice close to the quarter and to my tenure as Social chair.

I have one more paper left to write this quarter. It is another newspaper profile for my community journalism course. This time I am profiling the News Graphic, a bi-weekly paper for a community about 15-20 from Milwaukee. I have to do the same thing I did with the Parma Post, interview the editor, reporters, advertising department, a city official and a resident. Once again this is an assignment that takes me out of my comfort zone, I really do not like doing the whole interviewing people that I don't know thing. I always get really stressed out about stuff like this. The interviews seemed to go well for the Parma paper so hopefully the same will hold true for this one. It is a lot harder to write and ask questions about something that I know nothing about. I think this paper is going to be pretty challenging but I am ready to conquer it.

I am ready to be done with this quarter. I think it will be nice to go home for Spring Break and get away from Athens for a few days. I can't wait to see good ole Parma! If all goes according to plan I should be home by this time next week! Yay.

That's all for now...
