who will keep me warm in bed tonight?
:(
good things:
- I properly set in all the grommets on the underbust corset - and have the blood blister on my thumb to prove it!
- I also assembled a very significant portion of a secret project, and am just waiting on the mail to have everything I need to finish it.
- oh, and I did 3 loads of laundry and vacuumed and dusted the entire house.
- and had hot chocolate.
bad things:
- my garage door motor is busted. the one I replaced on 11/17/08. and have a one year warranty on. grrr.
sewing-related things:
in light of my tangible progress, I need to rework my agenda so that I can accomplish as much as possible before I start ob/gyn and have to work 80hr weeks. to that end, the apricot 18c gown should really be high on my priority list. it really doesn't require all that much work. I have the blue seaside bustle bodice completed, but my heart just is not in finishing the skirt right now - there are two reasons: first of all, it's a summer gown and it's currently freezing outside. secondly, the underskirt will involve layers and layers of ruffles, and I've sworn off ruffles for the time being (or until I get a ruffling foot that works with my machine and/or a personal assistant). I am very enthused about 18c outerwear, but that will require purchasing more fabric and I'd like to postpone that a bit longer.
an updated revised and brand new list of projects to make in the short term:
- 18c linen mitts
- 18 cap
- tweak bottom of 18c apricot bodice
- 18c apricot gown skirt
- 18c strawberry petticoat
- find perfect blue/green fabric for 18c zone front gown to go over strawberry petticoat
- 18c hat of some sort
- drop earrings to coordinate with 18c coral necklace (only firemountain gems does not make any pink coral large enough to work)
conclusions I have reached today and in general:
- I am currently obsessed with the 18c century and drinking hot chocolate.
- I have it in me to get stuff done efficiently. Sometimes.
- It is cold out.
- I tend to ramble when I post and have no photos to share.
- despite what the woman in the machine section at Joann's said, the internet said my sewing machine (a huskystar 219) can indeed handle a ruffler. which I could buy for $40. which I might do at some point, but not now. need government loan money to be disbursed to me first.
