tonight for mass comm i was required to go see this old guy, Jonathan Schell speak at the Holliday Forum. and then i had to go right a nice paper about his lecture. but man, he was badass. and i started thinking, why don't i go to more of this stuff? its free. the people they get to come are usually cool and have something to say. i actually enjoyed listening to this old dude ramble on about politics for the first time in my life. i even tried to go to barnes and noble tonight and buy one of his books. very good stuff. so from now on, i'm going to make a point to go listen to more speakers that come here to speak.

i'm currently reading this book, a seperate peace. it's probably on jr high level. but i always heard it was good and never got around to reading it. it is good. claire says there is a lot of symbolism in it. i havent really picked up on that yet, or maybe i pick up on it but not consiously since i dont have to write a stupid reading log about it. anyway, i like the book and all but i really want to hate gene for pushing his best friend, phineas, out of the tree. but i cant right now. he's a cool guy, i just wish he hadn't ruined phineas.

lester burnham worked for an advertising company.

i'm contemplating staying sober on friday for the parade. for multiple reasons. 1. i dont want to say anything stupid 2. i'd like to spend time with my sister 3. i could drive people to drew's
those are 3 nice reasons. so as of right now, i'm not drinking for orpheus. after, yes. and the next 3 days, absolutely. but probably not while im in mandeville. i plan on spending my mardi gras break entirely in new orleans, partying it up with alli g, polly and maybe even some karen. it's nice having connections. and it's AWESOME that meghan is coming friday morning.
