30 Day Song Challenge
day 01 - your favorite song: Blondie, Picture This
I loved this song when I first heard it and can still listen to it any time.
Kids these days don't know the challenges my generation faced--if you loved a song, an obscure song, it was often extremely difficult to hear. No iTunes, no satellite radio, no YouTube, no google...you could go to the mall (on Saturday, of course) and look for the vinyl album (only the top 40 had singles available) or the state-of-the-art cassette tape. On the off chance it was in stock, you then had to use saved up the money for it. A $20 bill was like a $50 is now. Then, you had to take it home and play it on a stereo while you sat there and listened to it with headphones (only "out loud" if your opera-exclusive Dad wasn't home).
Blondie's Greatest Hits was the very first thing I purchased online--I had no idea if the order had actually gone through until the tape arrived--it was 1989. I was immediately hooked on online shopping. The concept that you could buy something without have to see anyone, go anywhere or even talk to anyone (I was into catalog shopping, but you still had to call and talk) was utterly appealing.
