whew - im home

So i'm back home in good ole Baton Rouge, Louisiana for Christmas. They have direct flights from NYC to BR now so that was quite nice. No Atlanta airport!

Great timing as well. NYC transit workers went on strike so theres no subway or buses running leaving millions of us stranded without transportation. It was threatened last Friday but it didnt go through then yesterday it happened at about 3 am. It couldnt be a worse time either. Many businesses rely on the Christmas shoppers for much of their revenue and it will affect them greatly. I actually had visitors in town and it was their last day and they were planning on going to the museums that day. I decided to skip out on work b/c it would have been about a 5 mile walk and a tad bit cold. Plus i was leaving today anyway and I'll just make it an additonal vacation day. My sister had to get into the city, she has a car but it took her 4 hours to get 12 miles. You have to have 4 people in your car to be able to cross into Manhattan so she went to pick up coworkers from Queens. I would have hitched a ride with her and have her drop me off at the Brooklyn Bridge but no one was answering the phone at the office so i didnt want to show up and not be able to even get into the building.

All i can say is thank goodness i'm home avoiding it all for now and will be gone for almost a week. Hopefully it will be resolved by then. Or else I'll be getting quite a bit of exercise hoofing it to work. I bet a big blizzard will hit us as well. Not so great timing. haha - maybe i should have taken you up on that apartment offer Julie - then i could use New Jersey transit. :P Sorry cat you are going back to Louisiana. Sarah doesnt want to have to walk to work.

Good luck NYC!
