I am 40 today *sigh* I feel slightly grumpy about it, I must say! still, I have had some nice cards and presents, including a flower card (with mini orchids in) from jersey and a 'training a midwife' from oxfam unwrapped. we were to be going out for dinner tonight with some friends and the children, but ellie is unwell, so we will be eating chez hunter instead. I have some yummy chicken casserole in the slow cooker, will make some bolognase sauce (with veggie mince) and will serve with baked pots, so it will all be relaxed and easy. I have champagne! :D
I do hope you have all had a lovely christmas and new year. we did, andy's firm shuts down over christmas (although some printers were in) and he has holiday, so we have had a lovely family time. going out combined with chillin' at home.
I am well into the old knitting at the mo - have just made a school jumper and hat for ellie - she has worn the hat to school but jumper is awaiting sewing up. am currently making a fluffy scarf for amy, still have the cardi of dooooom for mum on the go, a party poncho for ellie (with a yarn with a lurex thread in it - on sale a hobbycraft for a £1 a ball - 4 needed for the poncho - yes I have bought extra for me) and a jumper with some lovely pink aran tweed that I got at the knitting & stitching show. I got some fabulous debbie bliss maya yarn for my birthday (chosen by me in the john lewis sale).
my brother-in-law's birthday was yesterday & my sister-in-law's (his wife, andy's sister) birthday is on monday. they are both older than me, hehe. however, they have had sad news on thursday - nij's brother, his wife and one of their sons have been killed in a car crash! the other son was at home - can you think of anything more awful?? their car was crushed by a lorry and burst into flames... (nij is the brother-in-law). we will call them later. so very very sad. don't know yet what will happen to the other son, it may be he goes to live with nij - we just don't know. certainly this awful news has made me count my blessings.
wishing you all a wonderful 2006 - I'm hoping this will be a year when I'm reunited with many of my old friends, sarah xxx
