Spoilers - the reason why

Discussion of the reason why for the earlier spoilers that were discussed on the first (I think). Plus other thoughts and comments.

Okay, so I read earlier today in the Tardis wiki that Luke was leaving for Uni (from an interview with Alexander Armstrong, I think it said). I have not watched the clip (saving it for the episode), but I always thought that was the most likely explanation (he's certainly bright enough). But I'm not familiar with the education system over there - what would make now the time for him to end up going? I mean, is there some sort of practice test for the tests students take to assess them for University that's given at that age. Do you even take tests for that (in the US, we have ACTs and SATs - they have nothing to do with graduation of high school, but colleges/universities use them to help decide who gets in).

It's also interesting to me, because I'm curious as to if Haresh really knows how brilliant Luke is (or could discover it from this). Certainly he was very impressed to read Luke's record and such, so there's weight on that side of the argument. On the other hand, Luke knows the flaw int the theory of relativity or something like that. Certainly, it would be a reach for school records to reveal that level of brilliance.

Oh, and now Haresh will have to deal with Rani hanging out with Clyde alone (possibly dating, I think I read?) so that should be fun for a few moments scattered through-out the season. I'm a little conflicted on how much I want Haresh to know about the extra-curriculars of the kids. On the one hand, I don't want all the parents to know everything - you can't expect them to be okay with their kids doing this dangerous stuff. OTOH, I want him to know how absolutely fabulous Clyde is. Such a dilemma. In any event, I think I'd like the parents to know (in extreme generalities) once the kids are adults, because then they are adults and can make those decisions on their own. And their parents can see how amazing they are. Unless they end up working for official organizations, of course, then they have to follow rules.

No matter what, though, it will be interesting to see how Sarah Jane takes his leaving. Both before and after the fact. I do hope she has some difficulty and sadness - makes for good television.
